No more BMWs
I have had 4 M cars, my last purchased Oct 2023, a beautiful 2021 M2C. Big surprise as well as disappointment when the clicking sound from the engine led to BMWs determinization that it needs a new engine, not covered by their “top secret” voiding of the warranty for “overrevving” that occurred prior to my ownership. Never again!!

That said I feel like what happened to you could have happened with a lot of brands, they got your money now and that is a big expense. Sorry that happened to you, Id fix it and enjoy the car because the M2 is a fantastic car (I have moved on to something else but really enjoyed my 2 years on the M2) |

Oddly enough I've owned many luxury brands and have had my best experiences with BMW, part of what brought me back was how much better they were than the others.
Having said that I haven't had anything major like this happen so who knows under those circumstances...

wait, how is it BMW's fault your car was abused by the previous owner, then dumped at a Bentley dealer? I mean, you're not the original owner, know nothing of prior maintenance or abuse, took a shot and lost... If you had bought the car from a BMW store you'd have a leg to stand on, but in this situation, I hate to say it you're SOL unless your state protects you, as I mentioned in your other thread.

OP is the second new member to sign up recently only to post how their motor is toast after buying from a used car lot. Then they whine about how the prior owner over revved it and proceed to bad mouth the OEM like they’ve been done wrong by BMW.
Man up and take responsibility for your own actions. Please Google “PPI” and take some basic personal finance classes. Move along. |

A PPI will not show an overrev at the dealer level.

well unless he got it PPI at bmw and asked them to let em know if warranty was still intact, apparently they had voided it already. But of course woulda shoulda coulda.
Although I do agree that technically this is not BMWs fault, he bought it used from a non bmw dealer so they are off the hook but sometimes you want to do a good faith repair, I think in the end would be better for them. Even if they are not going to offer him a new engine + labour, at least pay for the labor or something like that. They now lost a client so in the long run they will loose more than gain by not trying to help |

Doubt it. Probably back to Audi. Actually, I am selling my R8 next week. Keeping the M2 and awaiting the verdict on repair price from an independent shop. Don’t think they’ll say $39,500 for a new engine.

If you want to keep it, get a built long block from VAC, Carbahn, etc. and make a monster. Just a suggestion. Sorry for your troubles...
