So excited for this car! The fender arches and suspension bits look to be very promising and not all surprising, but pleasant to see nonetheless. It's going to be a long 1.5 years to see a production version of this car.

So the next phase of the M3 and M4 Coupe and whether a separate CRT , CSL or GTS would be on the verge of being introduced? Leaving ample room for the M2 and the next stage of progress of the M3 and M4 to leave room for the next BMW M5. Surprisingly they do think about this...

I bet the part about the N55 ends up being wrong. It's a fantastic engine, but it will be ten years old by the time this car comes out. Plus, as I have come to understand it, it's some kind of heresy for an M car to use a BMW mainline engine.

Looking forward to seeing where BMW places this car in their performance hierarchy. Specifically in relation to the M3 and M4.

Off to a very good start. I like everything I see so far. Excited to see how this progresses to the production car.

But never mind - the point is that, by that time, BMW will be moving away from the N55 in nearly every other application. I have no inside information, but it seems odd to me that they would use it for an M car at that point in its lifecycle. Having said that, I have an N55 in my F10 and I think it is wonderful.

I'm guessing you mean "you're not going to see HUD on the M2"

I'd imagine 3300 ish. Given that the weight savings in the M3/4 wasn't what we'd hoped, I think 3300-3400 is realistic. I'd be surprised if it weighs the same as the M235i though.

Yes, BMW is moving away from the N55 in their mainline production, but remember when the 1M used the N54, even though the N55 was already developed? The B58 hasn't hit the streets yet, so same game plan here. Use what you know.

None of those cars came out of the M Performance division.
