Never doubted the M2 would be a reality. 6 or 4 cyl, its gonna be great! Although I thought that the arguement for the 4 banger was more convincing/ progressive.
What I dont buy is the limitted production speculation. I think that would be a blunder on BMW's part. (unless the MSRP is waaay north of what we're expecting). |

hahaha, 1M is alot better than the M3 clunkers. If they ever catch up they still think they have the best. i guess ignorance is bliss. hahahahaha

very interesting. I'm curious to see the numbers on this thing...output, weight and price. Could be enticing, but i'll probably end up sticking with an F8x.

As much as I love the inline 6. I really hope it comes with an M engineered S designated engine. This news is rather disappointing. Hopefully it isn't true. I was looking forward to an "S20". Or an untuned s55.

So I'm happy with this. I was going to wait 2 years for my next car so this might hit it perfectly. |

Sorry to disappoint, but my source has never been wrong. The only thing that's not guaranteed is transition from engineering to production: not every car makes it. But if the source says N55 - it will be N55. I'm willing to bet real money on this.

While I agree they do run out of breathe quickly because I had an N55, it only had 1 small single. Where as the n54 had 2 turbos. I don't know that the limits of the n55 have really been tested to say the n54 is a stronger motor. Yes they have made 730whp or something like that which is absolutely amazing, but the n55 has not been pushed that far yet. Id love to see the N55 pushed further to see what it caps out at, which they are doing but it is taking forever! |

very cool. do you ever get information about timing and/or progress in development? or just combinations of development? you've made plenty of people happy with this post though....a lot of us were hoping for an N55 or inline-6 combination in the M2. Hopefully it's this combined with some significant weight savings off the 'too-heavy' M235 and we will get a successor to the glorious 1M! |

I can only make an educated guess here. Typically my info comes about 1-1.5 years before BMW makes the models public, so I would expect something like mid-2015 intro as MY2016.

If i upgrade (or down grade) from the m3 I rather go with this than the F80. F80 is just way too big to toss around in town or the back roads.
