Yes. The mirrors are carried over from the M3/M4 which has blind spot detection as an option. They chose to leave the logo on the M2C's mirrors rather than redesigning them without one, for cost-saving purposes I guess.

I'm normally a bit of a Luddite, but heated seats and blind spot monitoring are two "superfluous" features that have been getting pretty common in recent years that...i just have to admit to really liking.
I'm bummed the M2C doesn't have BSM. HOWEVER, it does offer something better: excellent visibility out of the cabin. If i had to choose, i'd take good visibility over BSM any day. |

The car is super short. I thought i'd miss BSM, but I don't. Looking in your mirrors there practically isn't a blind spot due to the dimensions of the car.

One of the first things you'll be taught in an advanced driving course is that there is no such thing as a blind spot. It is a concept dreamt up by people that use their mirrors to check if their own car is still there. It usually is. If not, you'd likely notice.

It blows me away BMW missed this option which is one of the most useful and instead included lane departure and forward collision (both of which are borderline useless) and probably far more expensive to implement. I think BSM (like rearview cameras) should be a legal requirement.

When I'm switching lanes at 100mph+, I don't have to look; I know there is no one on either side of me
I have the blind spot mirror feature is my brother's M340i, which I frequent and honestly, it's kind of buggy, as doesn't always work for every single lane-changing scenario and it could not, at least with this current generation's offering, take the place of basic human common sense, when operating dangerous and heavy machinery.. TL; DR: You ain't missing much.. The icon indicator is in a better viewable position in the G Series vehicle: |

Well, most of the time. The couple of times I test drove a modern Camaro, I felt like most of the world had disappeared into an near endless blind spot. Seriously, the M2C doesn't need anything but the mirrors...visibility is great.

Go drive a Miata with the top up and tell me you can set your mirrors to cover the spot over your left shoulder. It's impossible, as it is with varying degrees for any car that isn't a convertible with the top down. You will never get 100% mirror coverage for every car because of mirror design and the C-Pillar. |

I do know however, that BSM can be great when you are driving on very dark or poorly lit roads and someone is riding your blind spot with a headlight out or lights off). I know, random low likelihood scenario...but ask me how I know. |

I've got Blind Spot Detection on my car.
It's called turning my head. Takes 2 seconds. Agreed. Lane Departure is annoying AF and wish it wasn't part of our cars. I never use it. |
