Calling on Manual Transmission Experts

After installing a clutch stop and doing the CVD delete I'm pretty happy with the feel. The only minor gripe I have left is the relatively light clutch. It feels lighter than I remember others and I prefer one with just a little more heft (nothing drastic). So my question is...can heft be increased via clutch pedal springs or does heft primarily come from the pressure plate springs? I'm not going to change clutch components for a minor change in feel but I if can get some more heft via pedal springs, please point me in the right direction.

There are several threads on the Ultimate Clutch Pedal (UCP) and the Auto Solutions Short Shifter.

Both are outstanding mods..

Thanks but $300 for the pedal plus installation. I’ll pass. All I want is a stiffer spring. Is that possible?

You want less springs. The stock clutch pedal has two springs, one within the other. Removing the outer most spring will increase weight quite a bit and removing both, more so. Removing both though creates some lateral instability with the stock clutch pedal. Unfortunately, the only real way to get the springs out (more importantly back in) is to nearly remove the pedal. When you're at that point, you might as well replace with the Ultimate Clutch Pedal which is light years better than the OEM pedal. The UCP can easily handle no springs. I've had the pedal for a few years now.

I see, thanks. Makes sense now.

I removed my assist springs with little fuss. Just had to drop down the panel/knee bolster and popped out the whole spring assembly. Yes, there is a slight increase in the lateral movement, but I think the increased feel/weight is worth it. Honestly it didn't give me as much weight as I wanted. I also did the CDV delete and love it. I may upgrade to the UCP someday, but I'm okay with the current set up for now.

UCP + good SSK + CDV delete transforms the MT experience in these cars...
