I have mine sitting on my kitchen countertop... too lazy to jack up the car to install this lol.
I was planning on installing it while doing the oil change in a couple of weeks.
I'll let you know what I find out.

From what I understand, that plastic piece seems to be missing on both sides of the shock tower body but don't quote me on that.

The F30 thread I've link on that subject is currently active, maybe someone else there can confirm this with certainty.

Also, like you said, I'm also not sure how effective this missing plastic piece is in reducing road noise but for under $20, I'll give it a shot; for better or worse.
Thanks.
I've read the rest of the posts, but couldn't find anyone confirming which side(s) is(are) missing.
The part number comes up as 'covering LEFT', so I wonder if there's a different P/N for the right or if it only applies to one side.
Either way, if that part was designed for the final product, it clearly served a purpose.
I'll probably try to use my old asphalt based CLD to seal up that hole and see if it makes any difference.
Thanks again!
Yea, I only found a part number for the left side.

Mines has some sort of heat-shield on the right side but it's still exposed. Go figure..🤷🏻

I ordered the left side cover for the hell of it but I'm not too confident it will make any difference but some folks swear by it and claiming it makes the world of difference in noise reduction.

Also, it's certainly a US-spec part number or else I wouldn't have been able to order it from a local dealer. So maybe it's intended to be for the left side only.
Did you ever install this? Super curious.
Sorry bro, Heisenberg below was able to find me the missing sound isolating part but I, also, didn't get a chance to install it yet, thus, I can't offer you any real-world feedback on its effectiveness.

However, it looks like a rudimentary piece of plastic, so I'm not sure how effective it is, take it for what it's worth off the photo.

Wanted to experiment to remove the install bonnet liner but can't seem to pry off the clips (part number 51489119216).
Any recommended tool to use to remove these clips without breaking them?

TIA!

I just want to say I've installed this mod and it has been a game changer. My M2 is now so much quieter, 10x more bearable on a long highway drive, around town my music sounds much better and the reduced noise gives me the perception of a much smoother ride. Fold the back seats down and the car is 98% of the sound it was before.

I think this mod is essential for anyone DDing their car and not focused on having a racecar.

Which one(s) of the sound deadening mods did you do specifically, or all of them? Thx!

I did the complete package including Dynamat and the result is perfect
Now I can drive on the highway and not get annoyed by rolling noises
Feels like a much more mature car now
I dont understand why anyone would like more tyre, wind etc noise

Is there anything that can be done with our wheel well/arch liners? We have the hard plastic liners in the rear instead of a more "felt" like liner like on my E82 - small rocks and pebbles make a huge racket.

I really doubt the rear F22 wheel well liners will fit

I've retrofitted all sound deadening parts listed in this thread to my M2C.

On top of that, replacing PSS* 245/265 tyres with PS4S 255/275 reduced a lot road noise.

On my M2C, BMW didn't install Thermal protection, luggage comp. floor
51 47 7 338 591

Part 8:

It seems to be installed on N55 M2.

Are there some M2C with this part fitted from factory?

Luggage compartment floor is quite hot with Remus Sport exhaust.

Just ordered it to retrofit it

My 235i is VERY quiet in the cabin, I have turned off ASD.

I want to make it louder to connect better with the car, even rolling windows down I can hardly hear the exhaust for wind buffeting. I am ordering new M mirrors to see if that will help there (someone else said it works).

Also I would like to remove some key pieces of sound deadening, what ones do you think are the best to remove to increase noise?

I will remove the one under the hood, but it is already very small - just the middle bit of the one pictured in this thread, so I don't think it will really make a big difference, but I have ordered the trim removal tool for it so I will see...

Any input?

You have the list of the parts that people put in the car to reduce the sound, so just remove those.

If you want an order to the process, I'd probably suggest removing the blankets in the trunk first, then then aluminum panels either side of the rear seat, then the foam pieces in the door hinge area. I say it this way because much of the sound deadening is to prevent wind and tire noise, and I imagine that you want the exhaust note, which is from the rear of the car.

Asking those in this thread though is going to be tough... Contributors here wanted the car quieter, not louder.

I personally think that the M2 with all the sound deadening and without the fake engine noise is pretty good. It's still a bit noisy on long journeys, but it's not terrible, and you can still very much hear the engine.

Turn the ASD back on, I like quiet cars but I found with it off it was like my N52, dead silent.

I think it has a tasteful sound. You would be foolish to remove sound deadening, it’s awful to hear drone noises
