Agree. My VIN showed up briefly on a 3rd party lookup site immediately after order went into order bank, but "disappeared" when it went into status 150. 3-4 weeks later it reappeared as car neared completion on the assembly line.

One day after VIN reappeared it's now awaiting carrier assignment.

LOL...don't be! Waiting for transport and trans-atlantic shipping is the worst part of this whole process!

Hopefully this information gives others a better idea of the production timeline, and how it corresponds to updates on BMW USA and 3rd party VIN trackers.

Strange, mine was built 5 cars before yours, entered quality check yesterday, and is in final assembly as of right now. Not fair hahah

It's been a while but I definitely remember the painful process of following the small dot in the big ocean. I'd still trade you my "production begins" status.

It looks like only 2 were finished today. 196 AW & 197 HS. Ok BMW let's pick up the pace...until it's time for my car, then please spend all the time you need on that one

Are the last three digits the production number/order. Like would these be #196 and #197?

No, those are the last 3 digits of VINs (Vehicle Identification Number). They get assigned to the car but don't show up in VIN decoders online until they have finished or nearly finished production.

I wonder if the factory is open on the weekend. They need to speed it up.

You can plug in VIN numbers into a VIN decoder online. They get VIN information from a central database. When decoded the date of production is listed with all of the other info about the car. The VINs are in sequence, just plug in the numbers until they stop being recognized in the database.

I'm tracking that also. Three cars and 3 different colors. I wonder if they produce a bunch of cars and then park them while waiting for quality control and fixes.

Yeah. I definitely blame your SO. My money is on your car being just ahead of mine in line.

The thing I should NOT have done tonight after not seeing my car progress passed "production begins" is watch Wheelman on Netflix.

If it doesn't, do we think a GoFundMe page to bribe the plant operator is unethical?

Just reached Bremerhaven this morning. Based on the potential ships to the West Coast, I should be on either the "Lydden" (8/5 departure) or "Faust" (8/12 departure). Who's carpooling with me?
