No markups here in Raleigh. MSRP guaranteed, 3rd allocation spot.

BMW has been slowly increasing the price on the M2 semi-annually, so you barely notice the increase now. Remember, the LCI just got a $1k increase a few months ago.

I have to say, BMW does have some marketing genius in them. They're playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers...

The point is that inflation does matter when comparing prices.

Like backing up a few years...

May 1987 E30 M3: $34,000 MSRP (no including $475 freight) gives $74,756 in said BLS inflation calc used above.

No markup. We’ve agreed in email exchanges that I’ll pay MSRP plus South Carolina booking/tax fee ($500) and destination fee ($1000). My incentives will be USAA military discount (currently $2,000) and he will throw in tint and nitrogen.

MSRP (~$58,900)
+$500 (Fees)
+$1000 (Destination fee)
- $2000 (military discount, USAA)
Free tint and nitrogen from the dealership

I live in South Carolina

M2 Competition at 58k is now just a value proposition to the M4 at 66k.
Also bear in mind in 2 years(ish) when the M3/4 gets the S58, you'll almost certainly see another price jump. I'm willing to bet the first S58-powered M4's will start around $75k-$80k.

I don't see how BMW can continue selling the normal M2 fitted with an outdated N55 alongside the M2 competition. If so it would be the only car that still uses this engine. Bmw should at least give the normal M2 a revised B58 engine as found in the 2019 X4 M40i but with a minor power bump.

They aren't, the normal M2 fitted with the N55 is either out of production or is nearing the end.

I don't really give a crap about " adjusting for inflation" but since that clearly floats your boat..
take a look at the price of the E46 M3 and compare it to the 1M and the M2

https://www.autoblog.com/buy/2002-BMW-M3/specs/

2002 M3 $45,900 - $53,900

2011 1M $46,000- $53,000

2016 M2 $51,700- $61,000

it doesn't take a rocket scientist (or any inflation adjustments) to recognize the bargain...

When I realized that the 1M was selling in 2011 at the same price as the E46 M3 .. I jumped on it..

Are you sure? I saw somewhere that N55 M2 will no longer be produced. If you're right, then I see where you're coming from.

My question is, regardless of the fate of the N55 M2, what is BMW going to do with the already built M2 sitting in the dealership's lot?

I think that it has been pretty well established by multiple sources that the "regular" M2 is going bye bye.

Wheels have been standard in all the other countries pricing. If you want all black finish, it was another 250euros.

"Woodcliff Lake, NJ …Today, the BMW Group shows off its latest pride – the BMW M2 Competition. The 2019 BMW M2 Competition replaces the BMW M2 Coupe while retaining the compact dimensions, characteristic BMW M proportions and the BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine, rear wheel drive and a standard manual transmission with an optional M DCT transmission that have made the M2 beloved by many enthusiasts. The exciting new addition to the BMW M portfolio provides a distinctive M design complemented by improved dynamics and track capabilities with a 0-60 sprint time of 4.0 seconds. The BMW M2 Competition will be available in summer of 2018. With pricing to be announced closer to Market launch."

But that doesn’t mean auto manufacturers base their pricing on it or the CPI. BMW’s increases on the M2 have always been a nice, round $1,000. If there were no M2 Comp, I would have expected the 2019 M2 (LCI) to have been priced at $55,500.

And that’s happening. An increasing number of dealers are sold out on M2s - or if they’re larger dealers, only have a couple left. None I’ve talked to have expressed any anxiety about selling them.

I agree.. the " pricing for inflation is kinda silly" ..

and yes... M2 started at 51,700 in 2016, , then went to 52,500 for 2017 and then went to 54,500 for 2018.

Most BMWs inch up about $1200-1500 a year... so I wouldn't have been surprised to see a 2019 M2 go to $55,995 ish if it were made.
The M2 Competition pushing on up to 58 K plus still represents a good value compared to other items on the market... but considering a lot of owners will opt for a DCT... that means it is into the >>> $60K area....

Of course they don't hold to the CPI exclusively, but if you are talking about 2011 prices and 2018 prices then CPI has to be taken into account.

What exactly is your point? All BMW have gone up in price.

2018 LCI got $2,800 price bump over 2016 M2, for what exactly? Adaptive led and PDC were still not standard.
