50k+ difference is a lot so if you are a serious track driver, then get the comp. If you aren't, get the OG all the way. You'll be happy whichever one you choose... of course until we will see what the next gen offers in a few years. |

Another vote for the 2018. I went for the N55 because I loved it on my 335, I knew I wouldn't be tracking the car so no real need for the S55 power in the high RPMs, and that exhaust note...man, that exhaust note just sounds so good to me.

Glad to see my OG thread picked up from a couple years ago!!
DEF go with the N55. Not worth that much money. I have a 17. Added a dinan suspension, racing clutch, short throw, front lip for kicks, and a Bm3 tune. My 992 Porsche plan just got delayed by another handful of years. :0) love my m2!

The N55 M2 is good money, I can blast off from 0 to oblivion, in a flash and everything in my peripheral just ends up behind me I really don't see the needs for any more power unless you going AWD, sticker rubbers and some fine-tune spring and dampers.. I like that the M2C looks sweet but that S55 crank hub issue gives me the chills and the low hanging exhaust irks me. I'm good with the N55 until I could get a S58 and graduate to the next level.. https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/globa...38042EN/368917 |

I'm living this debate right now trying to determine which flavor. I've had three 135's and do love the N55. I've also never owned an M car, so any of the contenders will be a big upgrade. I'll visit a track a couple times a year but am not a racer. It's not going to be my daily driver but most of it's life will be on the street. I've spent some time in the N55 at the M school, but no time in the S55. I'm planning a test drive soon but there aren't many around where I live, so it will take a road trip. It's great to hear the comparisons from those that have owned both. The price point on 2016 and 2017 is crazy low, under $40k. I'm sure my future will include trading up, but trying to decide if I should just skip ahead to the S55 for what seems to be around $5-7k price difference or get used to the added power of the N55 first and then trade up to a more tuneable S55 later. These are good problems to have I suppose.

My point... the car has held its value amazingly well (worth about 60-70% of list after 4 years) and I still laugh at the people who said "watch the value drop off a cliff when the M2C comes out". It truly is an amazing car. Oh and if you leased the car, you were... not the smartest person on the block - even if you "did it through the business". They merged a new thread into yours

The best thing going for the N55 is a great exhaust note. It is tunable as well but doesn't have the big oil coolers, etc to help with high power and running hard. But in my opinion the M2C gives you more than just the motor. The styling is more aggressive and set apart from the base 2 series, the carbon fiber strut brace is cool to look at plus functional as well, the seats and some interior touches are nicer as well. Plus you get the M1/M2 buttons and individually configurable settings.

Both are great rides. The OG is a blast and so is the comp. Really can't go wrong with either. The Comp is more expensive but you get more content. Go with what makes ya happy!
