I don´t think so. I think the demand in total will be higher. Of course less people will buy the "base" M cars but those who don´t buy the model because of the competition coming afterwards will buy this car instead. So the demand in total will be the same or even bigger because of a wider product line-up. But thats also just an estimate by me.

This could really stop the dealer price markups on the base models when they are realeased. If this affects initial demand.

The M2C was years after M2 launch. If the timeframe of the F90 is the new norm, then it gives early adopters something to think about

Sure, it comes with a unique kick to the taint when the M5 Competiton comes out less than a year later. If they do this with the next M3/M4, it will WWIII on the forums. That crowd is a lot more sensitive to things like that.

If you are on the forums at all or paying attention you would have to be a rube to not expect the Competition series to come out pretty early.

It never use to be like that, the F90 timeframe is new. Sure there is always forum rumors of comp packs, but like the F8x they are usually a couple years down the road. The F8x comp pack was announced a solid two years after base model. The F90 got a Competion model announced 9 months after base car was announced. Early allocation waitlist will be shorter for next gen M3/M4.

The current generation M2 will sound miles better than the S55 engine.

Quite frankly, the M3/M4 is one of the worst sounding engines I've driven. Unfortunately, the M2 Comp is likely to sound just as bad.

It seems like the "Competition" model is the new "S" model, ala Porsche base and S models that are released simultaneously.

BMW couldn't get their respective shit together to get both out for the M5 it seems.

I think the production Z4 is going to be disappointing compared to the concept. Plus Toyota is getting the good version, fixed roof coupe.
