What does the M Performance Exhaust Bluetooth Remote do ?

What does the BMW M Performance exhaust bluetooth remote do? It says it makes it go into "Track Mode" but what does that do? Does it just make the exhaust louder or does it add performance upgrade?

It opens the valve on the exhaust. The volume of noise exceeds most state standards with valves open. So it is labeled as Track Mode because on the trac there is no noise requirement.

Some say it adds 5 hp others say it does nothing.

I didn't know that. It's funny, because most V8 Mustang and Camaro's sound way louder than the M2 MPE, even with the valves open.

Couple of YT clips of my car with MPE (+ Fspeed 200cpi DP)

MDM mode - MPE BT off

MDM mode - MPE BT on ie track mode

Actually that's just your perception. If the V8 cars have passive stock exhausts then they can't be louder than MPE with valves open.

Some muscle cars have similar exhaust setup as the MPE. GT350 for example has two modes and I believe one of them is louder than legal limit.

Fun fact. In Europe they have an additional switch for the MPE in the trunk you have to activate everytime you want to switch it to track mode. This is to make it more pain in the ass and make it more difficult for people to exceed noise limits on public roads.

Easy to bypass the EU red button in the trunk 😉

Any idea how? I'm taking ownership of an EU BMW M2 with MPE with this exact "problem" requiring this solution. Been searching, but nothing straight forward yet.
