What RPM to Launch at?
Noob here...
What is the ideal RPM to launch at? I have a 6MT...where does DCT launch at? ..should a 6MT be launched at the same RPM as DCT? I should be receiving my Dragy GPS within the next few days, so I wanted to attempt to put out some numbers (stock, CS, Stage 1 using BM3). I know my numbers will probably be lower than a more experienced driver, but at least I can show my differences...assuming I can stay consistent with my launching/driving. |

I don't launch at any RPM under 8,250.

you'll have more fun with this car on a road course. just my 2 cents...pictured is me on my 135is. it'll be less stress on your car than doing launches.

I think I have launched the car twice. I forget what the default RPM is maybe around 3k rpm? When I first did it I just did the default and there was a little wheel spin but it launched pretty hard. The second time I did it I tried raising the RPMs with cruise control settings and the RPMs started bouncing around a little bit, it seemed really strange almost like what you would see with a rough idle. Like it would jump between 3300 and 3700 RPMs after after being set at 3500 and done making adjustments. The launch control item remained there the whole time and the car did launch. Anyone else have this issue? I haven’t tried it again to see if something was up or not.

3K RPM is right where you wanna be. Dump the clutch and mess with it a few times. Depending on tires, temp & power you want to be more/less aggressive with first gear to get a good launch.

DCT default launches at 3500rpm. What the ideal rpm is depends on a lot of things. How much power you have, condition of the pavement, what tires how hot they are and pressures, the temp outside, etc. Gotta experiment yourself to find what is best. I've only launched at 3500rpm before because I was doing it to test out or show off. Never actually dragged the car before and timed it.

I've had the best luck launching this car without preloading revs.
Something about it seems to trigger a serious bog on launch. But if you just rollout hard from a dead stop she moves really well. |
