M2c failed flash bootmod3

Hit 50k Kilometers thought it would be a good idea to stage 1 flash it with bootmod3 . My friend back in 2018 flashed his m4 so easily at home. Thought I would do the same . Failed the flash now it wont run with 6 error messages with a dme reset . anyone ran into the same problem thanks in adv.
contacted support waiting for a response.

Your ECU is locked. If your car was built before June 2020 it can be benched unlocked. After that date no one has been able to unlock it.

Sounds like you are going to have to pay the dealer to reflash your M2C.

P.S. Your friends 2018 did not have a locked ECU.

You can get someone to bench unlock your ECU and then flash away. Shouldn't need to visit dealer for that. You could have used BM3s software for free to check your DME and they would have told you beforehand if your ECU was locked.

Dealer may also void your warranty right away.

Bm3 support will sort you out, don't worry. You shouldn't need BMW to fix it.

If it is a locked DME then trying to flash it shouldn't do any harm.

That's a great price and exactly what I expected from BM3. So much easier to troubleshoot an issue than the other "tuner" I've tried for the M2C.

When I go in for service I print a sign stating. No DME updates, no test drives, no car washes.

Everyone needs to do this. I tape the sign near radio controls.

Never an issue for me and I still have the old software from 2018.

Good to know. I always wondered what the dealership thinks when someone tells them "No DME updates." Would they automatically assume you're tuned?

No they won’t. They didn’t even ask me why. It’s your car not the dealerships. They have to listen to you.

I am not tuned, but leaving my options open when I get the itch.
