Put some resistance on the shifter as if you're pulling it out of first and into second. As you apply resistant to the gear shift, press the cutch in and the car will shift much more smooth. You can do it for all gears and it will feel way better and faster

If the car is warm vs cold makes a huge difference. Also whether or not traction is on/off. I think with it being on can help, but I prefer it off since I've been driving the M2 & 135i manuals for over 80k miles now. I am used to it at this point.

I like to get the RPM's around 3k, maybe a tiny bit above 3 (give or take). That usually helps me have enough time to get a smooth shift. Easy does it!

Great advice! Definitely will try this out. Do you mind briefly share about the mechanical logic behind that putting a bit proactive force/resistance on the knob before each shifting? I think that might benefit broader audience here. Thank you!

Great point to differentiate the driving situation!

@Will0Z as far as the A/C being on I would try driving with it in sport mode. In any case try out every possibility! Sport + tends to be annoying at times off of a dead stop as well.

Agreed. Didn't happen in my 1995 E34 540i 6MT, and annoyingly, still doesn't happen in my M2C.

An ND MX-5 or 911 6MT, in comparison, are far superior MT units and shift far better.

3-4 is nice though.

I truly don't know the logic but the car shifts 10x smoother without a doubt
