Need to keep this option (flying) open next time I'm stuck in traffic.... just have to remember to keep shiny side up, rusty side down.

Can you explain to me how this makes more sense?

The correct terminology is High Speed. Nothing more, nothing less.
eg: High Speed Car Chase. NOT High Rate of Speed Car Chase.

I just don't understand how they could achieve such flight at any speed. I can't see anything that looks like a ramp that could launch them that high.
I know I've done some dumb things when I started driving, but luckily cars just weren't fast enough to cause this kind of catastrophic damage and loss of life.
In physics, speed is defined as the distance traveled per unit of time. Speed is the scalar quantity that is the magnitude of the velocity vector. Therefore, speed is already the rate of distance over time, otherwise known as velocity. The rate of speed is velocity over time, otherwise known as acceleration. By saying high rate of speed they would be implying picking up more speed...in which this case; these two boys certainly achieved.

From what I can see, in the photos, there is a dirt embankment opposite the building before the parking lot. In one of the photos, two officers are standing in it. Based on the amount of dirt strewn about the parking lot beyond this area, I would imagine that this is what caused their upward momentum.

I'm with you on being young and reckless. I, myself, displayed countless demonstrations of moronic driving when I was younger...but nothing to a degree like this. I can't imagine the sheer terror they felt once they lost control.

They were moving so fast, I'm not sure the terror was able to register. I hope that it was over before they knew what happened.

Everything you stated is correct (I'm actually a physicist, but work as an engineer since jobs are better than no jobs.... lol).
I'm pretty sure that most people's self-preservation instinct would have kicked in before this could have happened.

I would certainly hope that to be the case, but I'm sure there was a split-second's worth of "oh shit!" Had it been me, there would have been a third skidmark from the point of lost control.

Imagine how much better this would have been if it was a 911 GT3. That would have been good for reaching the 3rd story... at least... if not the 4th or 5th floors.

Oh you would be surprised what your could do with that Slant 6. My buddy in high school had the Dukes of Hazards color Orange Dart with the Slant 6 and we use to play dukes of hazards with that car. Lucky for us we did this stupid stuff in an open ball field.

We also used to barrel around an open field that was a large hill. We'd get moving down the hill on wet grass and then start the car spinning. Sheer stupidity, but that was me in my young and dumb years. When I look back at all the idiotic shit I pulled when I was a kid I'm amazed that I'm still alive.

sucks. but some of us could have easily been in the same position, from our past mistakes. Unfortunately this one cost the driver his life, and his friends. rip.

I saw the other post, which makes their "flight pattern" more clear. But it's still amazing how they missed those wires, and the guy wires attached to that power pole.

On a go kart once but that was 2 feet off the ground... But never in a Porsche.

If they were in a GT3 or GT2 would they have cleared the house completely due to the higher speed, or would the downforce have still sent them into the 2nd story?

I dunno… but if it was Tracy Morgan in a brand new Bugatti Veyron, it probably would have ended up in the basement.

I'm actually surprised no one has done a back of the envelope calc to figure out roughly what speed they might have been going.
