Aim brake data

Which channel do you guys use for brake. I have throttle data only. Don't know which channel to select for brake.

In the pic, I'm braking as u can see from the g force but the brake indicator is zero

I dont recall offhand, and dont have any of my data files available. But I believe there is a brake pedal position % that I used.

I just checked one of my old data files, it looks like I probably used "Brake_P_F" and/or "Brake_P_R". That should correspond to brake pressure front/rear.

Do you connect the AIM through the OBDII or directly into the ECU? I connect through the OBDII and cannot for the life of me get brake or steering data or accurate throttle position data. None of my local BMW club data gurus seem to be able to figure it out either.

Yeah, I go direct to can bus, and this is exactly why I went that route

You get more data that way. I have all of those data points available to me. Feel free to check my YouTube, I have a few videos up there with data from my aim/gopro setup.

It's a bit tougher to get setup, and you'll certainly need some help if you're not comfortable with electronics, but it was worth it for me.

Thanks for the reply. I'll take a look at your vids and, if you don't mind, reach out if I have any questions.

I initially hesitated to hardwire my AIM as I though the M2 was going to be a street/track car. But over the last year or two, I have barely driven it on the street and don't even take out my track stuff anymore. Hell, it's had Hoosiers on it since November - even took it to the dealer for an oil change with Hoosiers and brake ducts, haha. The mechanic's video was interesting...

Absolutely. Would be happy to help.

There are a couple caveats in hard wiring, that may be fixed in newer revisions. But I had issues with my aim unit pulling power from the canbus when the car was off.

This caused a warning to come up in idrive when I turned the cwr back on.

I made a small box that disconnects the canbus wires when the car is shut off via a relay.

Thanks. The youtube link in your signature appears to be broken.

Thanks for the heads up. Tried to fix it on my phone which apparently deleted it. Lol

Will fix tomorrow when I'm on my computer.

Hi DM2 could you share the diagram for the relay to disconnect canbus?

I just sketched it out by hand when I built mine. I may have a crude drawing somewhere. I'll check my computer tomorrow.

If not, I can throw together a drawing real quick. It's a pretty simple circuit.

Here's a couple photos of the latest version I did on a prototype board. One of the outbound connectors is direct, the other is switched through the relays. I have my Zeitronix ECA-2 plugged into the direct, and the aim unit into the other. I designed and 3d printed an enclosure for it.
