They are milking the everlasting life out on the M2 model. What's next? M2 GTR?

They released the models in the wrong order. Should have started with this "GTE" model and the made more and more affordable models

Well they've sold more M2s than M4s for the past 2 years. I see way more M2s than M4s.

They have sold way more M2s than F80 M3s.

Hear, hear:
  • BMW M does not further (fine)tune an existing M car:
    "Boo, weak sauce."
"BMW has lost touch with its customers."
    "I'm done with BMW."
  • BMW M further (fine)tunes an existing M car:
"Boo, all those variants dilute the M brand."
"They're mad, way too expensive for basically the same car with just a fancy badge and a couple of bin-parts of their back-catalogue slapped on."
"Pfff, my build with aftermarket parts has similar power output and torque figures."

For reals, what does it matter to the consumer; BMW doesn't own anyone anything in a Free Market and it's more for us to choose from..

I bet you can buy one and register it for the street in Florida lol, you see shit here on the roads that you really question how they were able to register.

Makes sense if its the new 240R replacement.

Read the numbers. All facts...do a search on sales figures for F80 M3 and M2

Over 22k M2s sold in N55 form in just 2.5 model years. 33K F80 M3s sold total in 5 model years. The M2 will easily surpass it by the end of its production.

I don't think that is the issue here. What we're seeing is a trend that BMW enthusiasts have been complaining about for years. Having an ///M logo on a vehicle used to feel special. It doesn't feel as special anymore. We all care about exclusivity to some degree when it comes to buying high end vehicles (...otherwise you'd go buy an entry level Kia or Corolla and call it a day), so don't sit here and act like you don't care at all about how your choice in vehicles is perceived by others.

So you're comparing the end of life cycle sales to that of a more recently introduced car?

You're reinforcing my point. The existence of higher-end M cars isn't diluting the brand; it's apparently diluting the "special" feeling the ego-centric people used to get from buying any M. Now that BMW offers higher trim M variants, all of a sudden these people seem to feel their base M car doesn't feed their ego as well. They appear to want to feel superior by owning the "ultimate" version of their vehicle model.

"Too many M models. M is supposed to be special." Waaa waaa waaa. Get over yourself.

You're not even in the market for this car yet you're whining.

For those that want a track focused M2 racing car not a GTS that's street legal, a racing M2 that's not road legal this is really excellent news.
