Quick fit harness

Hi all,

Has anyone installed a harness in their car without changing the seats? I am curious about the different options and the ease of swapping with/without in between track days.

The only one I could find is this one:

I saw a similar thread floating around a few months back and it seemed like schroth was a great option for something that was safe and easy to remove for daily driving

I had the quick connects in my E46 M3 back in the day. I absolutely loved them.

4 point = death

Why even bother? Not worth it...use the 3 point and be safer

It is perfectly safe to use the Schroth quick connects. They are designed to be used without a bar.

Please do a little bit of research before making blanket statements like you just did.

Was not even talking about with or without a rollbar...I was talking about it being a 4 point and the potential to submarine (even while utilizing the factory seat belt pre-tensioner)

With track safety equipment, I would do it right...6 point with a rollbar and full bucket seat (HANs too while we are at it). And if you are using this on the street...I don't even know what to say

It does look like the SCHROTH QUICKFIT does meet the NASA standards...but I'd still question the value.

It's your life and money...I don't see the value in a 4 point system

Comments like these stopped me from buying this harness for my E36 years ago. It wasn't until Pyrat 2 posted about it and that I actually called HMS and educated myself on the system that I truly understood how it works.

This belt functions similar to a seatbelt so if your using stock belts for HPDE then you should be no worse but more planted in the seat. The belts in addition to anti-submarining (ASM) has special stitching, hence the D/S and P/S specificity, that tears in an accident allowing the person to rotate similar to the factory 3 point belts.

All that said, these particular belts "meet all certification requirements by the German TÜV, ECE-R 16.04 and US-DOT FMVSS 209 for use on public roads" for the E82/92 cars and not the F87. Obviously, there isn't enough something for Schroth to re-certify for the newer cars. So people need to make that call on their own. Though again if you call HMS they will explain that they do have the Ralley belts for "all" cars where the belts can be installed according to specs. So for me if the QuickFit Pro can be installed to "specs" I should be good. Again, people need to make that call on their own.

True 6 points should only be installed w/a proper roll cage. Yes you can use w/a proper harness bar but that does not protect you from the roof.

I think we are agreeing on this...just to different degree.

6 point harness without an actual roll cage is suicide in a rollover collision.

Now when are the M2 cages going to be cost-effective?

Note that some tracks don't allow the Schroth harnesses. Our local place (High Plains Raceway, near beautiful Byers, CO), says the following:

"4 point harnesses will not be allowed. If an aftermarket harness is installed there must be a minimum of 5 points including an anti-submarine belt. Schroth 4 point belts will not be allowed."

I'd say check with your local track before bringing these out. For Autocross, I think they'd be great, providing they're legal for whatever class you run.

That's part of the beauty of the QuickFit though - if a track tells you no, you just unbuckle them and use the factory 3 point. Most track groups / HPDEs allow the QuickFit because they understand how they are designed to work safely.
