Would you recommend 255/35/19 and 285/35/19 for the RE71R, or do you think I can go one size up (265 and 295)?

Any chance you will get to Mid-Ohio this year? There are almost a dozen different PCA schools scheduled, plus the BMWCCA school in August.
The no fuss fitment with 71R’s is 255/285/35/19, and it’s quick.

They don’t make a 295, so the extreme fitment is 265/35 305/30/19, but requires running DSC off (tire heights), track camber & alignment for clearance, and you’re still likely to rub the 265 upfront under high compression until you wear the tire or liner down a couple mm.

If your car is stock, I’d go 255/285. If you’re tuned to 390whp and up and can drive fast, I’d go extreme. Altho, with that 9.5” wheel upfront, you may decide to try 265/285 as a good in between.

I was going to make it to MidO later this year, but the timing isn’t going to work, so that’s too bad. Will be doing at least COTA, BMW PC, CMP, and Autobahn CC, tho.
