I’ve got a friend running square 275/35-18 on stock suspension, albeit with a sizable amount of poke.

Forgot to mention that I'm on MP coils with front camber plate, very limit choice on stock suspension tho.

How much depends on alignment, suspension, and offset settings, but you will get fender liner rub under hard compression on track bc of the height of the tire.

It’s not much and goes away once the tire is half worn, but it’ll eat a little bit of the liner away in the meantime.

Ok thanks. I'm all stock and though I could do 265 front, but I guess I'll stick with 255

That’s the best bet with the OEM 9” front rims anyways. 265 won’t net you any added grip/speed on a 9” rim.

I recently ran a 265/35/19 R7 on a 19x9.5 rim and had no liner rub, but the track had very little hard compression and I had already worn down my liner a couple millimeters where it used to rub.

To me, the rub isn’t that big of a deal, but some guys don’t like it.

Hmm... I wonder if there's a way to modify the liner a little. I'd really like 265/35s in the front, and this is just for autocross.

The tire modified the liner quite perfectly.

How were the slicks on track ? I currently use Michelin sport cup 2.

Worth the upgrade for track ?

I should probably post an update for guys looking at this thread for an answer:

On my 19” track setup that I used for the last two years I ran Trofeo’s, Cup 2, R888R, RE-71R, and R7s, and was able to run 265/30-35 in the front and 295-305/30 in the rear.

I am going back to 18s so I can run NT01, AR1, A052, Toyo RR, and Pirelli slicks.

Crazy thing is going to the forged EC-7 18’s with A052’s will save 30lbs of rotational unsprung weight, vs my 19” VMR’s (1/2lb heavier per wheel than 19” EC-7) and RE-71Rs.

The wheel/tires I’m comparing for my setup are VMR 710FF 19x9.5 ET33 (with 3mm spacer) and 19x10.5 ET45 with 265/35/19 and 305/30/19 RE-71R’s, vs Apex Forged EC-7 18x10 ET25 and 18x10.5 ET40 with 265/35/18 and 295/35/18 A052’s.

Four width size differences was too much for good balance, but 2-3 width difference has been good in my other staggered setups, so looking forward to 265/295 and 275/295-305 with the 18’s.

I just need to make sure a 305/35/18 will clear with ET40 and lowered 3/4” in the rear. It’ll be a while before I test it bc of all the track events being shut down, but I’ll post an update when I do.

What were your thoughts on the Trofeo’s in terms of grip relative to the RE-71Rs and Cup 2s?

I was looking to possibly try these this year (after having run Cup 2s, NT01s and RE71s). I say was, cause you know how this season is turning out...

The Trofeo isn’t as grippy as the 71R when cold, but similar grip to when the 71R gets hot, just less greasy feeling. A little better than the Cup2, IMO.

The best part about the Trofeo is actually its street manners. It’s way, way more comfortable and quiet on the street compared to the 71R.

My track setup, using NT01s:

front: 18x10et28 275/40r18
rear: 18x11et44 305/35r18

For a stock suspension, this appears to be all the rubber that will fit under the car with a stock suspension. At maximum attack it's self-clearance-ing .

For this reason, I don't think a 305/35r18 at et40 is gonna be a viable track setup, but YMMV.

Thanks.

My garage measurements tell me it’ll be very close and maybe too close for comfort for the track. So, it will be an interesting fitment test.

Your setup gives me some hope bc your 18x11 ET44 sticks out 2.4mm further than my 18x10.5 ET40, but it’s the outside edge of the tire that will rub first, so our wheel width difference may not matter. With clearances this close, there’s only one way to find out.

What camber do you run in the rear? I use -2.1 for the track.

If 305/35/18 on ET40 and the rear dropped some doesn’t clear, it means I have to remove the NT01 from my list above. I’m probably ok with that bc the AR1 is cheaper and a little quicker. I don’t know if the AR1 lasts as long or stays as consistent as the NT01, tho.

Predominantly I’ll run the A052, but drop down to the AR1 and up to Toyo RR just to change things up.

I happen to have a set of 4s in 255/40/19 and 275/40/19 that I was going to put on my GSF. However, just picked up a stock 2018 M2 and was wondering about fitment with the 40 side walls. Anyone have experience there?

I’d ask that question in the Tires section of the forum.

I haven’t heard anyone running those sizes for the track, so you’re likely to get a better answer over there.
