M-Performance Wing mounting

Hi all,

Ive been investigating how the M-performance wing mounts to the trunk lid of the M2. I found the fitting instructions for the m4:

https://www.bmwpartspros.com/oem-par...ng-51192409319

The mounting system is quite well considered and complex. When i look at an image of the M2 M-performance trunk lid, its clear that there is previsions that simply align with the 2 bolt holes on the wing stands, image below.

I popped the lining off of the trunk to see if theres anything that would line up on a standard trunk and it looks as though 2 might line up and the rest would need drilling through the inner skin. Not a problem, but i wondering if anyone knew if there was a similar guide from BMW for the 2. So far i wasnt able to find it.

In amazed. Had bought one but no New Jersey BMW dealers would risk installing it, so I have not, and gave up on the purchase

Good idea on the racing wing, but if it’s using the existing mounts for the hinges I think the stands are quite a bit further apart.

I reached out to a chap here who’s selling his car with one installed. He had BMW fit it and didn’t seem up for taking the interior panel off to snap a picture for me.

The more I look at the the more I think it just needs the rear two holes drilling through the inner skin. But, only having it bolted to the single outer skin of the boot lid doesn’t seem like the way BMW would do it.

installed my wing today. Relatively easy if a bit daunting as you have to trust the templates. not every step is shown, sealing the cut edges for example.

one recommendation is to do a dry fit of everything before bonding and get familiar with it all. You really have make sure the inner bracket sits flush against the inner skin otherwise the wing can be sightly off of square.

I chose to leave the OEM lip spoiler on.
