It gets a bunch of other optional features as well as some new ones as standard (M1 and M2 buttons for instance). All that for only $4,400! For comparison the M3/4 Competition Pack gets updated steering, DSC and updated adaptive suspension settings, heavier wheels, but you only get +19hp and it cost $4,750.

You still say it cost too much? I say get the hell out of line so I can get mine quicker!
$4,400 increase from LCI M2. M2C gets adpative led, pdc, and active driving assistant as standard equipment. Lets say they are a conservative $1,000 of the current $1550 Exec Pack.

So for $3,400 increase you get the following mechanical changes:

S55 motor swap
Air to water top mount cooling
New dual valued exhaust system
Carbon strutbrace
Bulkhead bracing
Spring/damper retuning
Electronic steering retuning
Stability control retuning
M1/M2 programmable buttons

BREAKING NEWS
This just in, the folks at BMW have decided the inflation debate is too to come to an end and so have decided to delay releasing the pricing guide until next week.

There’s only a few loyal handful that would pay that price and it looks like demand isn’t going to be nearly as strong as the early adopters.

They should have released the competition as a base model with S55 and without the goodies. Then they could have put everything into a CS model and made made further weight reduction to charge $80k

Right now, it’s kind of like a carrot on a stick in front of you with the competition model in its base form but a menu of items in your face to actually build together what many wanted originally.

They got too greedy and kept jacking up the price and didn’t get all their model updates timed correctly
I bet it will be pretty hard to get one for the first 12 months.

That's fine with me, I could use them 12months to beef up my down payment.

interesting dynamic , coming from a Mazda owner..

Does Porsche not sell different levels of car from Cayman to Cayman GT4?

of course everyone would love a GT4... but Porsche sure sells a lot of Cayman and Cayman S now don't they?

That's not even getting into the fact that the M2 comp is now as heavy as an M4 and it sounds like one also. To be honest.. I am surprised that you would even stoop to the level of an M2 competition when the M4 is clearly superior with it's OEM CF roof...

The N55's that are still sitting on lots when the Comp arrives, will be discounted heavily. It is a good car, some new owners will be happy.

And considering $59,500 as the base price all the while.

Hey Hans... they are comparing the prices based on inflation... We should consider a higher price ! hahahahahaha!

What exactly is your point? All BMW have gone up in price.

2018 LCI got $2,800 price bump over 2016 M2, for what exactly? Adaptive led and PDC were still not standard.
I'm confused. Did you see my post prior to this? I'm just simply correcting someone's calculations here. If you want my opinion, I don't even consider inflation in a two year time period.

I don't really give a crap about " adjusting for inflation" but since that clearly floats your boat..
take a look at the price of the E46 M3 and compare it to the 1M and the M2

https://www.autoblog.com/buy/2002-BMW-M3/specs/

2002 M3 $45,900 - $53,900

2011 1M $46,000- $53,000

2016 M2 $51,700- $61,000

it doesn't take a rocket scientist (or any inflation adjustments) to recognize the bargain...

When I realized that the 1M was selling in 2011 at the same price as the E46 M3 .. I jumped on it..
Floating my boat? Lol. These are just the facts whether you like it or not. I'm not saying 1M was not a bargain. Instead, M2 or even M2C still offers the same value.

2011 1M $46K base while 2011 M3 $59K base.

2018 M2 $55K base while 2018 M4 $69K base.

2019 M2C $59K base while 2019 M4 $70K (?) base or 2019 M4 Comp $74K (?) base.

Yes, M2 LCI or M2C received price increases due to inflation and bunch of other factors but so did other models such as M3 and M4. You can blame BMW all you want because you can't get an M car in the low 50s but you can't just ignore the other factors.

Edit: Since you compared the price of 2011 1M to 2002 M3 and concluded it was a bargain, would you also say 2019 M2C is bargain at $59K compared to 2011 M3 which was also at $59K?

Bimmerpost is the best focus group BMW could ask for.

Bean Counters: Release prices - gauge reaction....
Prices up, no problem 3:1 ratio of members defend pricing

Engineers: Release specs - gauge reaction....
Weight up, no problem 5:1 ratio of members defend reasons why

You have that in reverse. Seem to be more complaining about M2 moving up market from 2016.

Chuck,

Nice. Will be interested in your impression of the M2C - my current plan is to pick one up in a year.

Can I complain about how it was realistic to buy a nice 2 bedroom house in San Francisco for $300,000 - $500,000... some 20 years ago?

I guess you can, but a car is not real estate. Real Estate usually goes up in price.

I can't believe this post is still going, since on the first page, it was revealed that the numbers are not real.
So my prediction is that the M2C US price will be ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

That prediction is worth as much as the one in the original post, but people are still talking about a 100% wild-ass guess.

Must be a slow news day.
