The Supreme Court's naive view of our electoral process has allowed money to dictate national policy on everything from climate to guns to drug costs.

this is how it always has been. Just now they can openly donate instead of doing it in the shadows.

I’ve read an argument that Bloomberg is really running a support campaign for Biden, with the majority of his ads being anti-Trump. This allows Biden to stay “positive” and separate himself from the Dems. (I think there are some flaws in this argument, notably that Bloomy is running some “I’m Mike” ads too.)

If this is in fact what Bloomberg is up to, then CU and other money restrictions have no real effect any more. Trump can spend his fortune on his own campaign, Bloomberg can spend his on either his own or a proxy campaign (but not violate campaign finance limits because he isn’t giving it to Biden or a PAC), etc. Will be interesting to see what Steyer is up to if following a similar strategy. Ross Perot would puke.

Really no good solution to this issue what prevent private employees collectively getting with each other and donating to a campaign that benefit their industry 'supposely' or those employee getting a bonus that they freely decide to use as political donation. Further what the difference between corporate donation and union donation? If your going to ban one public entity for donating shouldn't all be ban?
