You'd think that they'd use better clamps.

Why going Stage 3 with BigBoost?

- We have done intense and harsh in-house testing, measuring individual cylinder EGTs, and back pressure. With our kit you will see 1.11-1.12:1 Back pressure ratios, these are safe and ideal levels of back pressure for the engine to operate smoothly and safely.
- Fully custom turbocharger units designed to meet the flow capacity on the BMW N55 engine on the exhaust and intake side. We have tried well over 15 turbine and compressor wheel profiles and designs to determine which will provide the most efficient flow. Our IN-House Gas stand allows us to do so.
- Race Cars running our turbo kit in 6-12 hours endurance racing with amazing results.
- Best customer support in the industry, any time you can hit me up on text, FB, IG, WhatsApp, email, etc... whatever works best for you you'll see a less than 10 min response time from me or any person on the BigBoost Team.
- We provide tuning advices and even do custom maps if required.
- We DO NOT relocate the water pump, you keep it in the stock position, not even required to remove it to install the turbo kit.
- We provide install guides with over 100 pictures of the installation of each and every component on the kit.
- We DO NOT change the engine mount bracket!! You will keep your OEM RH engine mount bracket.
- Boost Control managed with the stock EWG system
- LAST but not Least, there's not a single Chinese part in our turbo system, it's all proudly made in the USA and other few parts like the turbo imported from South America.

We have a new addition from BP-Engineering using a hybrid dual ball bearing turbo and an inconel material turbine wheel; which is the same material used in the Garrett GTX turbo series. This should mean super fast spool-up but the kit isn't cheap @$6,500 USD!!

The efr turbos use gamma titanium blades, and have the best bearing chras in the industry imo. I don't know if anything can top the efr turbos just yet even if it is dual ball bearing. But we will have to see some data logs and Dyno plots to see spool data. But it'll be definitely awesome to have alternatives.

You're right; my mistake. The inconel turbine blades are the same material used in the Garrett GTX series. I fixed my post.

Hope they can drop the cost though, $6500 is really expensive.

Stage 1 upgrade
Manufacturers Description:
WHP Level supported (with proper fuel, upgrades, and tuning) Stock - 425WHP

Our NEW N55 Stage 1 upgrade consists of a brand new N55 turbo, custom cast and manufactured for VTT, this is coupled with a VTT custom reverse billet compressor wheel and brand new stock turbine. Stage 1 upgrade uses the stock plastic DV, but with the option to include a custom VTT / Forge DV system, or a GFB DV+ system to replace the stock plastic DV parts which are prone to cracking, and leaking. This upgrade will support 40-75 WHP over a stock turbo with stock spool and plenty of flow to redline. Turbo upgrade is a complete bolt on with no changes to water or oil lines and is undetectable by the dealership.

Stage 3 N55 "GC" DBB Cast upgrade
Manufacturers Description:
WHP Level supported (with proper fuel, upgrades, and tuning) Stock - 600WHP

Our N55 "GC" upgrade consists of 100% new castings for the entire unit. The turbine housing and manifold have been cast in two pieces with all the factory flow restrictions removed. This allows our uprgaded to support a whopping 600WHP. The highest for any drop in N55 upgrade. A GENUINE GTX3670R Garret Dual Ball bearing center section is used, coupled with VTT custom reverse wheels. The compressor is a full billet 11 blade GTX wheel, and the turbine is a Garrett style 10 blade design, these are the same turbine wheels you would find in the Garrett GT line up but made in reverse rotation. DBB stage 2 upgrade also has the option to include a GFB DV+ system to replace the stock plastic DV parts which are prone to cracking and leaking +$245 from the drop-down. This upgrade will support Stock levels-600WHP with quick spool and plenty of flow to redline. Turbo upgrade includes everything needed to install turbocharger including all water, and oil lines, and o-rings.
VTT N55 "GC" Units have no core charge

It's still in testing phases/development, I've heard the stage 3 doesn't have an ETA yet.

Ok thank. I've got a sneaking suspicion that it will be the best turbo out of them all

I would say second best even though i'm planning to go this route, because no one is beating speedtech with their use of the best turbos available atm which imo is borgwarner's EFR series turbos unless they also use EFR'S.

The gtx 3076r CHRA that VTT is using is good, but tbh I don't think it'll be able to outspool an EFR with its titanium blades and what likely may be the best ball bearing core in the turbo industry. Plus speedtech's manifold has better collectors and a smoother merge point imo, and from what I heard VTT has been having issues boosting past ~2X psi apparently due to their manifold.

Ok. What is the issues exactly VTT having. I'm not as clued up on this as you by the looks of it..
So any insight on the technical Side of it will be appreciated. The only reason I said it would be better is due to fitment. As the exhaust housing looks identical to stock location. My understanding is the issue with the N55 turbo it's the exhaust housing and manifold being restrictive. I've heard that pure turbo have had failures due to this down the grapevine..

Any issues are not really well discussed, there are only rumours that it doesn't boost well. Read the threads for more info.

Edit- this is normal with development of a turbo from the ground up, they are just ironing out the kinks just relax and wait.

Is anyone aware of any speedtech kits installed on an N55 M2? From Speedtech website: “Unfortunately, we have not fit up our kit on the M2, though it looks that most PN's are common between our F30 kit, with the exception of the RH motor mount support (this would have to be fabricated by the end user), and subframe.”

Which St1 turbo is the best choice? Or are they basically the same?

I’m really all over the place trying to decide which turbo to buy from settling for st1 all the way to st3 or trading for an M2c. In a perfect world, I would like 450whp on 93oct without touching the hpfp or increasing lag. I think the tte460 would get me closest to my goal but the 6 week turn around is unacceptable.

Any suggestions?

That's why you should for a Ball bearing turbo kits (bigboost), if you want performance, without additional lag. Having upgraded HPFP is not a bad thing at all as you can then run stronger E mixtures. E30-50 as well.
