Who‘s going to place an order by next week?

I have in mind doing so at the first given chance. My boss is a car nut so i can even leave work right away as soon as BMW is able to enter the order

Who has in mind doing the same or similar and who rather prefers to wait and see (or hear) untill the first cars will be delivered in august/september or even more clarity about certain things in november?

if pricing is good, and my dealer gets more than 1 allocation, im going to be ordering one asap. Currently first in line at both local dealerships just waiting to hear.

I have my deposit down and a place in the queue, just waiting for the order books to be open to get my spec confirmed.

Same here hope they do get at least 2 allocation, as I am number 2 with deposit down.

I’m number 4 on two lists, my first dealer said they expect 4 allocations, no news on the other. I want a March delivery, so around a November/December order. I should be top of the list when November/December roll around

We both know that's not going to happen in this generation...the G series M2 will get the third "version" of the S58, after the X3M/X4M, and G series M3/4.

There's no way that engine shows up before the new M3 is out, at least in my humble opinion.

To the OP - I am in the wait and see bucket - I already have the ZCP F80, so I want to see how the S55 M2 stacks up to the N55 M2 (my dad has the LCI M2), so I will be able to compare in real time.

Ordering now somewhat feels like a shot in the dark, at least regarding few things like Hockenheim silver or the m seats perforation, sound, etc..

I‘m „actively“ searching for a new car since around five years now and I just cant wait any longer... most aspects of the M2C just perfectly fit right on spot for me, so must order next week same day the dealer is able to enter the order..

The dealer said they expect 4 allocations, I assume they meant for Q3. As I don’t want to order until end of Q4, I didn’t inquire further. They said ordering should be possible June/July with a Sept/Oct delivery but that they don’t have more details at the moment.

I think it’s all a bit fluid until BMWNA releases firm
details to the dealers, my feeling from
the chats I’ve had with both dealerships is that they’ve had some informal discussions but nothing concrete yet.

I'm first in line at my dealer but after seeing lighter M performance parts, I would just regret it if I didn't order the car with those parts so that they properly be installed at the port. If BMW confirms those CF parts (hood, roof, fenders) can be installed at the port, I will ask my dealer to move me down on their list. Otherwise, I'm ordering asap.

I assume we're talking US ordering here.
My local dealer outside Philly is useless in terms of new info.
He says the car might be arriving by the end of the year or early 2019, the press release clearly says "summer".
I'm first in line or whatever but he says he's unable to take any deposits or "orders" until they have more info.

so in short, i'm patiently waiting for the mythical May 15th when we think BMWNA will release the pricing.

I‘d say no matter where on the planet. With asap i mean as soon as it is possible to place an order in a particular country.

Walking into a dealer and ordering a new high demand product, only shows the sales person you're willing to pay whatever they ask because you're fill with euphoria over the new exciting product and they could get away and charge whatever they want. They love that it, their job just becomes paper-pushing, with no silly sales pitch required..

I've gotten the best deals on my BMWs by playing the whole "hard to get" game like when you're desperately trying to get a girl and she pretends that she's one of a kind and unswayable.. My last deal they saw I was very knowledgeable about the 235 (Thanks 1addicts), so he hit me with the whole "we can't discount the 235 because it's a niche product, blah, blah" I rudely walked out in the middle of the conversation and told him I'm going another BMW dealer a few miles away... He called me 5 mins later and told me if I came back, they could discount $5,000 off the sticker and the manager will write a check on my behalf to BMW Financial Lease return for $2,000 because I gave them back my 135i with Michelin Super Sports instead of BS run flats they provided, which they claim were "cheaper" tires...

This is not a new $700 iPhone, I would wait and see how it plays out after the initial demand dies down, if you care to pay less. Like for instance, when I had the bug and was browsing for a new M2, a little over a year ago; the dealers were acting like this car was engineered by Jesus himself and runs on premium holy water; so mark-ups are a must.. Now the same exact car is discounted by thousands, if you play your cards right.. long story short, don't buy into the hype, it's just a car..

The biggest issue I have is the weight and the price?

I am curious how the car will feel with an additional 55kgs, the OGM2 felt very light comparatively, so maybe it is a moot point?

I can’t say yes, until prices/options are released.

.

I‘m in the super happy position to get a „fleet“ discount. This means 25-30% off msrp, additional discount on m performance parts, zero mark-up and being #1 in their queue. I think this is a very nice position?

Well, if you have that kind of pull, you're a lucky guy. Most don't have that option and have to role-play with the dealers to get a fair shake.
