Turn off the Touchscreen?
Did the search thing, read a lot of posts - mostly of people loving/hating the touchscreen but nothing that I want to know. I personally don't like the touchscreen, I find using the iDrive wheel is faster and easier. <- Personal opinion, I don't want to debate it.
I find myself occasional touching it and next thing you know, I'm on a different radio/satellite station and have to find my way back. My question is: can the touch part of the display be disabled? I can't find it in the menus. - Zoé 2018 OG Blue |

How do you occasionally touch the iDrive screen which is already more than an arms length away unless you have freakishly long arms that don't require you to even slightly lean to touch the screen?

Don't forget voice control. I couldn't find any comprehensive list of commands, but through trial-and-error, I found a few I use such as 'Call John' or "Go Home". As.for the iDrive controller, I like drawing a 'J' on the dial rather than scrolling down a list.

This. The screen is so far away that the touch functionality has got to have been a design afterthought. It's placed pretty far out of the way, unless you're trying to touch the windshield...

If you don't like the touch input of the screen, just don't touch it. If it bugs you so much and you don't even want to see it, just press "option" button near the wheel, and scroll to turn it off.

Maybe you could use bimmercode and code for a non-touch screen. I had the ghost touch screen issue and was out of warranty and considered this as an option instead of replacing - not sure if it would work.

You can always program one of the preset buttons to turn off the display screen. My button "1" is set to turn off the display so when I do long drives at night, it doesn't cause fatigue. Not sure if it will turn off the touchscreen though since I don't have touchscreen. But I would think it might just reawaken it...
