Pixel 3 Bluetooth Assistant Voice does not work

Ok, everyone.... If it was not frustrating enough to not have Android Auto in our cars, now it seems like the stock Pixel 3 bluetooth is somehow messed up too... when paired to the car, everything else works, spotify, navigation, calls, everything you would expect through bluetooth, BUT the assistants voice... if you say "ok google" and what you want to do like text someone, usually it comes back and says something like "ok, whats the message". however i cannot hear that now, even if i am using Android Auto just from the phone itself, anything the assistant dictates does not work over this bluetooth connection. I tested with another bluetooh headset and it works just fine, but does not work in the 2016 M2.... Any ideas?
