What's the best OBD2 scanner for M2

I'm thinking about purchasing one as I had drivetrain malfunction message last Friday and car went into limp mode. Dealer couldn't look at it until this coming Friday and I wasn't driving it since I didn't know what was wrong. Stopped by local shop I know and they read and cleared code for me. All good but a pain.

I could have done this all myself and been driving my car all weekend if I had my own scanner.

Best one?

Thanks!

I'm using OBDLink MX Bt. It's not the cheapest reader but I'm totally satisfied with it. I do trackday logging with it besides the standard OBD error and parameter reading. For error codes I can suggest the Deep OBD for BMW app. It uses the BMW control units library files, and it can read all CUs.

I have CARLY - it is a phone app and a wifi adapter...Pretty good for amateurs and for a quick analysis. Plus has all the BMW codes....

I have OBDlink MX as well and recommend it. Along with bimmerlink and BimmerCode, you can do most anything you’d like. OBDLink also has it’s own app...but I have not tried it out.
