Total PITA for me on 2018. Ended up ripping it out with pliers. Definitely try to cut it down and/or reduce diameter of post before install.

it's so odd how there can be so much differences in peoples' experiences with this thing. i'm guessing there's just not much quality control in the manufacturing process resulting in different sizes?

It was a total bitch for me to get in. I almost gave up, tried the pedal to push it in, etc. and then somehow I got it lined up magically and pressed hard enough that all the "spines" collapsed and it went in very quickly. I don't think it will ever come out without breaking. I can see that if you are really lucky or just good I guess you can get it in without as much fuss.

For anyone having trouble installing the BMS piece, I highly recommend you remove the kick panel trim surrounding the airbag - its just 2 10mm bolts and a few clips. It makes it much easier to see what you're doing and gives you way more room to wiggle the clutch stop in. I found it best to rotate the stop left and right as I was jamming it in.
