Tacho Warm Up Lights for S55?
My turn for a likely (almost certainly) obvious/stupid question.
On my wife's F80 the tacho has warm up lights, i.e., yellow and red lights that artificially lower the redline of the engine until the engine is warm. I love these things. However, from what I can tell the new M2C doesn't have a similar setup. I know that the new gauges are digital-like, but can we confirm that there is no similar functionality in the tacho on the M2C?

BMW left out few things on purpose for the next generation, so they can claim it as a real M car, lol.
Fixed in M2C - M engine, M mirrors, M wheel buttons, optional accessory carbon parts, M seats Still missing - tach lights, lights on shifter, adjustable suspension, factory built carbon parts, merino leather |

Either way, if you check other forums you'll see that the S55 failure rate is tiny in comparison to the S65 and S85 failure rates. There are very few spun crank hubs on stock cars.

So I noticed on the video below at about 1:30 that there is a message that says full drive power available shortly. Wonder if the car pulls power or RPMs until the car warms up? Perhaps someone can shed some light on this.

160F is a completely safe temp to start getting into it, but not before that I agree. Most external oil thermostats are set to 185, that's considered the golden point. |
