Do you think I could get the front engine splash guard fixed for free under warranty?

I bought a used M2C with around 16000 miles and it came with a pretty beat up splash guard under the bumper. The edges are basically hanging on for dear life and are shredded up. I was trying to buy a new one from an online BMW parts retailer but they cancelled on me because apparently the part is too big to ship. I was wondering what are my chances of getting a new splash shield installed for free through my new car warranty? I feel like it's pretty low because it might just be "normal wear and tear"

Let me know

Depends on the dealer really. Some have a good standard for the cars they sell and will do a goodwill fix if needed. Doesn't hurt to try

the warranty is for defects. Something caused by you or the previous owner will not be covered

My guess is it was reinstalled incorrectly

The only way that the corners are hanging down is if it was reinstalled incorrectly or there’s more damage than you realize which I think it’s probably the first of the two

Turns out the corners weren’t hanging, it just looked like it because there are raised edges on the corners to protect the radiators in front of the wheel well

Yeah, that definitely sounds installed incorrectly

I can install that thing in my sleep, but I’ve done it more than a few times

I’d buy a new one… make sure that you have all the screws that you need to reattach it

There are two sunken holes one on each side, you’ll need two bolts to install in those if they’re missing

No, I would not ask them to replace it under warranty unless you bought it from them like that

It’s definitely worth a shot. Talk to your service advisor in person about the possibility
