Which is better 245/35/19 or 255/35/19

I was wondering if the question has been answered about which tire size is better for our M2s? The 245/35/19 and 265/35/19 stock pair or the M3 size of 255/35/19 and 275/35/19. Since both Ms use the same wheel fit is not an issue.

There must be some reason that BMW decided on the stock M2 size with more tire streach.

The most likely reason is the legal EU requirement for tire chain fitment. There is no way a 255/35-19 up front will meet that requirement. Sad but likely the primary reason. Looked at another way, that requirement does allow slight oversize fitments to work for owners to explore. I have stock wheel width and offset wheels for street class autox and am using RE-71R 255/35-19 and 275/35-19 tires with no issues - just use them to drive to events and at events. The RE-71R is wide for its specified size too.

I doubt you can fit chains on 265/35/19. Hence, BMW-approved winter size 235/35/19 square. The more likely reason is M2C is down on power compared to M3/M4.
