Aim Solo Hardmount?
Anyone have good options for hard mounting an Aim Solo 2 in an M2/M3/M4 street car? I don't have a roll cage and I'm not looking to drill holes into the dash, so maybe a mirror mount?
I was black flagged this weekend because I used a Ram windshield suction cup with a tether to the mirror. Really frustrating. Evidently, BMWCCA has a new insurance policy that doesn't allow suction cup style mounts - even with a tether. I imagine some chapters will enforce the rule more than others. |

The latest version of the operations manual (12/2018) indicates that video cameras must be "securely mounted" - the non-lawyer in me says that is up to interpretation.

Decided to give the ProClip a shot. Will still use a tether on track days but should be good.

We have Aim MXL in our race car but with the M2 would using the little drive analyzer make sense? Never seen one in action but they seem like a cheap alternative to an Aim solo combined with smarty cam.
Or are they junk |

It seems to me that they tried to dumb it down so much that it isn't very useful. You also can't export your data to view it on the computer. I use Solostorm with an external GPS and Bluetooth OBD2. I find it much better since it works for track days and autocross. It also allows overlays of driving stats and video files. |

Here it is in action. Works great, I'd recommend.
I didn't utilize the double sided tape so that I can put in for track days and take off afterwards. Easy to setup and leaves no marks on the dash after taking off. It does slide around a little but that's no big deal for me. |
