Installed today, feels great. One thing though, I noticed a small click noise just upon pushing clutch pedal. Will spend some time to diagnose and report back
Updated: the click noise was plastic that I moved when installing. I removed nothing and just forced my hand up there, so the plastic cover thing wasn't seated correctly

When I ran my 98M3/4 in Solo II BSP I had a clutch stop that I thought I had setup "just right". Over time (2-4 yrs) I started having more and more trouble shifting from 2nd to 3rd in Solo II events. Sure enough when I had the tranny inspected that syncro cone was a mess. I swapped my entire tranny out for another used one and then reset the stop much closer to the floor. Over that long period of time the little bit the throwout bearing was not totally disengaging the clutch caused this wear on the cone. So be conservative with the setup! And I loved the Clutch Stop as well YMMV, HAZMAT

Holy ****. This was far the best mod ever I put in the car. I used 3 shims and you don't need to remove the panel. Took 9 seconds. I think it's perfect and no I didn't have any issue with grinding gears.

So I took out one of the shim and now I'm running 2 and it's noticeably longer but eh I will be safe than sorry. I will need another time to get use to the new setting. Can't shift smooth for some reason ugh

As for the clutch stop problems, now I am getting paranoid. How can you check this on the Bimmerlink app, Lukeni? |

One sure way to check out clearance is wait until your car is on a lift and have someone else check from underneath when you have the pedal completely depressed. On most Clutch cars their is an inspection Window/port that you can look into with a flashlight.
Another way is to feel and listen to see if its 100% off the flywheel. Make sense? I really wasn't trying to scare anyone, just want everyone to be careful with this great mod...

The one I ordered came with 3 rubber shims/washers plus the top of the stop. Are you saying at 3 shims/washers (all of them that came with the clutch stop) there is no reason to worry? Can you clarify? thx. |

Well today I used the AWRON gauge to check my torque output. I fully depressed the clutch, put into first gear, and revved. The output was 0. I think this is the same test / readout Lukeni had performed with BimmerLink

Assuming that sensor value is correct I doubt there is a problem providing you do the shifting with your clutch fully depressed. Like many others I get quicker & smoother changes with 3 washers but am conscious there is less room for error so a lazy shift won't go well. |

Anyone take a pic of where the clutch window is under the car? Before I crawl under and visually see if the clutch is disengaged with 3 washers want to ensure the window is still being installed by bmw

Removed my BMS clutch stop last night.
I choose to be safe than sorry later... I love the feeling of the stop with 3 washers.. If someone confirms by seeing the window physically looking at complete disengagement at full clutch press with 3 washers.. Maybe I will put it back on again.. haha Just keep in mine that the plastic nail that goes in to secure the fit of the stop, it wears pretty easy when you install and take it out.. Few times of reinstall will make the stop not be in good fit.. |
