So basically M2 Competition is coming out in July 2018. Is the M2 CS in late 2018?

CS will be one year later , so 2019.
End of production of F87 2 series is in 2020.

Hi Chaps!

New to the forum but not new to forums in general.

I am about to order an M2 (UK) and have read all the threads relating to the CS/Comp version etc. My Q is would you wait to order the CS/Comp or get the LCI version. I have 6% off at the dealer and can have one in 2 months apparently. I am on the fence with it all.

The thought of getting an M2 and then a week later a BMW announcement comes with the CS/Comp version would literally pi88 me off! Obviously the BM dealer is not saying a word about the CS/Comp.

Cheers!

Welcome!

We can (almost safely) infer that there is at least one non-artifically limited M2 model with an S55 coming in 2018 as production year 2019 (July 2018).

The answer depends on how soon you need it / how long you are willing to wait. ~12+ months vs 2 months. Pricing point and discounts will be different, too, if those are part of your choice equation.

I am sure you could not possibly go wrong with either.

All the best to you and all reading this for 2018.

Thanks for the welcome!!

I am in no rush, its a treat to myself for having a great first year as fully self employed. I have mentioned in a UK thread that I have 6% offered by the dealer. Based on a £49k spec works out at just short of £400 a month on PCP.

I understand that discount will be different re the CS/Comp but do i wait.... HMMMMM

All the best for 2018 also!!

Knowledge is power. On the basis of your comment: wait and consider with the forthcoming info available. By doing so you'll take an informed decision. And maybe it offers you the chance to negotiate a higher % off to get a soon-to-be 'old' M2 model.

Forgot to add: it is likely that a new production S55 M2 replaces current N55 M2... if that's the case, a brand new (maybe discounted) N55 M2 won't necessarily be an option from a dealer.

Having the 2 models to choose from would be ideal.

Agreed. In UK you could manage 10% discount a few weeks ago, given a new model is due soon I wouldn't get an LCI unless you can maximise your discount and you intend to keep it a while.

To clarify, the "CS" you're talking about is in fact more like a GTS, with no rear seats and a roll bar in the back, based on what has been said lately.

The CS we all expected for this round, is now the upcoming Competition.

I sure as hell hope so.

Just checked Cayman models.

Cayman 718 starts at $55K
Cayman 718S starts at $67K
Cayman 718 GTS starts at $79K

sure looks like a Cayman 718 GT4 will come in around $91-93K

if BMW wants my money.. they will bring in an M2 *further progress* that has 6MT and DCT options beginning around $75-85K

So far... in comparison to Porsche.. we have..

BMW M2 - $54,500 (per BMW usa site today)
BMW M2 ZL9 - $61K ( 150 models for US )
BMW M2 comp- ??
BMW M2 CS - ??

And for the majority of us who need rear seats, I won't be the least fussed about the specs on the CS, or when it is supposed to debut.

OTOH, if a more sporty 4 seater with a 6MT comes out after the Competition version, then I'll be

Same here.

Same here, too --though, from the info we have around here, seems unlikely.
Plus... zero interest in a +$30K CS regardless of number of seats. I'd take the F90 M5 over the M3 CS without hesitation.

POST EDIT by Artemis:
This video was already posted in the M2 variants sister thread on Nov 14, 2017 by forum fellow tke743 (see here) and added on Nov 15, 2017 to the dedicated test mule videos thread (see here and here).

Furthermore, it merely contains several previously posted video clips, except for - back then - clips featuring the Alpine White test mule.

Someone in Europe already put Sakhir Orange M seats in there M2,so you can get a good idea of what they will look like in the M2 Competition. They definitely fill up the interior more than the current seats. Its not a color that I would choose but they look good in the M2.
