A lot more fixed than broken with the latest iOS - I love that it no longer automatically starts reading out text messages and no longer a mirror screen of my phone. Only issue I see daily is that my music will cut off for 1sec a couple times.

For those of you who pay for full screen carplay, don't pay more than $50. I know @kubax86 charges a very reasonable price. Other people cough Bimmer tech cough want an arm and a leg ($100+) for the same thing. It's ridiculous.

I have a 2018 4 series, carplay is still not showing free in the connected drive store ($300 for 240 months)

I know 2018s were not referenced in the article but I wanted to offer the data point to confirm or in case anyone saw or heard otherwise

I am guessing the active countdown tricks the system into thinking something is playing. Same with using Shazam. The use of microphone automatically thinks I am trying to give a command and kills the music I am trying to Shazam. I believe these are Apple issues.

I am guessing BMW told Apple their prices were too high, Apple wouldn't negotiate, and BMW said, okay, we will charge for it and see what the take rate is to prove or disprove the value add Apple claims and charges for. Apple likely wouldn't like the results so, they were likely more willing to negotiate to avoid the bad press of dismal take rates.
All of what you have mentioned has been corrected with the updates to CarPlay with iOS 13.

I was just looking at the center stack in my car and those glowing orange buttons and lights. It was nighttime and raining, and inside the cabin absolute silence and beauty. It reminded me of an E39. And then I realized that all this is going away. The analog gauges, the classic BM orange glow, all being replaced for screens. So sad for a generation that fee up on it. My kids will never know how special these cars were at one time.
So so true. But I wonder if bmw will still have its M cars have or have optional real gauges. But yes here seems will always be a very bright lcd screen from now on. The full lcd screen dashboards arent my preference also, glad my car has a traditional one for now. My next car prob will be full lcd dash with fake needles, gross

I have same issue right now but can't find that option in the car. Only when I check connected drive online portal.

20 years for $300 is okay if it's transferable to future BMWs but... no indication of that being possible.

I have it on both M5 and x7. It's touch and go at best.
It's been pretty flawless on my 2020 M2 so far. iOS 13.2.3. I'm surprised at how well it works actually.

My previous DD was a 2018 GTI with Android Auto and it started out working well, but was so frustratingly buggy after a few months I stopped using it.

I prefer just using everything through my phone instead of using the car manufacturer's software. Purely a convenience thing for me.

Yeah totally.. I had a new GLE loaner the other weekend with the full screens. I'm not going to lie, it's super special looking but it's sad that it literally does everything the buttons do, just in an lcd display. Daytime driving is here or there, but nighttime that orange glow from a hundred different buttons just is so cool, almost getting f nostalgic. 😞

I like that they call it " Global " and the fact that even 2016 models get it 👍🏻

Agreed..flawless on both my 2019s with the full screen hack too. I have an iPhone 11 and NBTevo_Q. The negative comments thus far I would have to presume are pre iOS 13 and/or a combination of an older iPhone and older NBT version.
