There is a software update for the ASS which remembers last user. Also, if you get coding you can permanently disable it.
As for power - A tune and a dp will probably yield the most.

Coding is a term used for a person/shop who knows the BMW computer really well, hooks up a laptop to it or a desktop or w/e and changes some of the factory settings to reflect the ones you want. Check if Houston has any good BMW shops. They might charge you though. 2. Tune, seems like there is JB4 atm and there are several threads talking about it right now. DP - I like the challenge dp which also there is a thread about it. The numbers seem realistic. With 91 octane, my goal is to have around 330whp/390wtq.

Yeah but you can do stage 1 and see if that is enough power.

I'd recommend a more efficient 5" intercooler, as soon as they're available. That, an exhaust, and whatever tune comes out. The N55 is more about efficiency than raw power, unlike the N54. F30 has a new DME design, so the flash updates will probably take awhile longer.

DP/ECU tune at 330whp/400wtq is my goal for sure. I guess I'll also need a intercooler...

Stock size is also 5"...but that has nothing to do with efficiency. A 5" unit like those from ETS, Spearco, and a few others have a more efficient design and they also have metal end tanks with less severe bends in them for better airflow. Best thing about using a 5" is that there is no cutting or modifying needed behind the bumper cover as with a 7" unit that requires trimming to avoid interference.

Yes...I contacted Mike at ETS and they're not sure if their current E9X units for N55-equipped cars will fit the F30 or not, but it's just a matter of time.

There will be several replies here stating that this is BS, that they use E85 all the time with no ill effects, etc. Anybody's welcome to put whatever they want in their fuel tank, but it doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. If BMW doesn't specifically say you can use E85, I would not use it - you could end up with a very expensive lesson in following manufacturer's recommendations.

This one looks good for a HFC if you are concerned about throwing codes. |
