Garage List
BMW guy, owned E36,46 and 92 M3. Have had GT 350 for 2 months. I have driven the 5.0 Mustang, the Shelby is nothing like a regular Mustang! The look, the steering, braking and engine sound blows the M2 away, and I paid 58k

I would take the Mustang. Lovely sound from the NA V8, and not "fake" engine sound from the sound muffling turbo.
But, my next car will not be a Mustang, but a E92M3.

I agree. Similar transmissions would be a smart idea. BMW would probably still win but not by as much. Not a fair fight.

A VCR was what you thought of? For real? We probably have very different backgrounds then... To me toggle switches are reminiscent of old school racing cars and sports cars.

The toggle switches in the Mustang, Lambo's, Pagani's and many other cars are a throwback to racing cars and sports cars (and aircraft switches as well). Toggle switches was used because it was very easy to see the position of the switch (up or down) at a quick glance.

BTW, the VCR switches in your photo aren't toggle switches

Well, that was quite the beat down. And coming from a car that straight line speed is toward the bottom of the priority list vs a car that straight line speed IS it's priority list.

I don't think so, at least nothing significant. Ford UK lists it as "416ps" which would convert to 410 horsepower. Bearing in mind that the exact amount of power a manufacturer decides to advertise comes out of its marketing department, I don't think there is much of a difference. Even if the US car did have 10 extra horsepower, it wouldn't be enough to notice.

The Mustang's time was a little slow compared to other peoples' results with manual 5.0 S550 Mustangs and the M2's DCT obviously made up the bulk of the difference. A manual vs manual race would have been close.

The biggest thing this video proves: British journalists simply can't drive and they especially don't have a clue how to drag race. I'm glad (and not surprised) that the M2 won but these guys really need some help.

Always have to be someone in the group which takes it too literally lol kidding.

I hate throwback design, might as well install an 8 track player to complete the interior look

Yeah, I agree! Journalists like Chris Harris, Tiff Needell, Jason Plato also proves that ALL british journalists are crap at driving. So very much unlike the US journalists like Matt Farrah etc which proves that US journalists all are like Ayrton Senna in comparison

Did you seriously think that "the biggest thing the video proves is that british journalists can't drive" based on a single launch and shifting gear a couple of times???? Is that your definition of driving and your standard of judging other drivers?

BTW. In Europe the stated power doesn't come out of the marketing department... Every car has to be type approved, which includes testing the engine on a engine dyno. All tests have to be done by a independent organization. The independent test has to be within 1% of the manufacturers stated hp (throughout the rev range of the engine). For subsequent "in production" spot checks, a deviation of 5% is allowed (allowing for small variations on components, mapping etc during a production run).

Show me one American motorsports driver who's any good in any motorsport out side on America. Unless they are driving a simple circle race track they are hopeless. This goes for there cars as well

It's significantly less. The US model is 435, and it is measured differently. The difference is around 35 hp. I wonder why the UK model is detuned.

Is the US version tuned to run at gasoline similar to euro 98 octane, ande the euro Version at euro 95 octane? (octane rating is different in us/europe)

I don't have any idea why the Euro version is detuned. In the US the highest octane rating is 93, but some states only have 91, and it is calculated differently than in Europe where ratings of 95 and 100 appear. 93 is good enough to make my turbocharged N55 scream.
