The Mustang is a better bargain and odds are in your favor that on your trip to the grocery an identical mustang will pull up next to you...!

I cannot stand mustangs due to their dime a dozen persona... At cars n coffee mustangs overcrowd the deck... I think someone should limit the number of Mustangs allowed to attend

BTW... Nice kill M2...

What!? Did not expect that at all

Not sure what's most impressive the way the M2 won or the fact the mustang didn't hurt anyone

BMW DCT vs Ford manual, Really? And the Mustang was right hand drive. Gimme a break, that's no comparison. Though, you gotta like that LBB win over the Tomato red.

I agree, comparing a DCT to a manual today is no longer a comparison as far as straight line speed goes. That being said I will still only drive manuals just for the fun and enjoyment I get every time I get behind the wheel. But I agree that this comparison should have been between the GT350 and the M2, even though it's always sweet to see a smooth/precise I-6 overtake a V8 powerplant as iconic as the coyote engine. Go M2!

There out here in NC as well..... and coming up soon is Mustang week in Myrtle Beach, SC. Please pray for those brave souls who will be traveling there and taking the risk of being a pedestrian on a sidewalk. One mustang takes out 6 people..imagine 25,000 of them in one location.

Stay safe!

Watch the video from 52 seconds onwards. I don't think that DCT is why that M2 enters hyperspace, compared to a 400hp+ V8. The gap will be a tiny bit smaller vs a manual, but the Mustang GT will still get owned. The M2 pulls so hard on the Mustang from about 30mph that the Mustang can't claw it back later, though it did look like it started to nibble at the gap later. I think the fact that this happened over a 1/2 mile shows how big the initial gap was and how the M2 kept pulling as speed increased.

The lighter M2 is making close to 400hp and at least 550Nm (from around 1800rpm) crank. It also has a better torque curve. That is why it flies away like the Mustang just hit the brakes.

While drag racing is irrelevant as a reason to buy an M2, it does show the M2 is serious business as a sports car. Also, I actually like the VHS style switches and I think that interior of the Mustang should be the starting point for all future Fords.

The exterior isn't bad either - except when it's rolling over you on the sidewalk leaving a C&C.

Agreed. Needs to by manual to manual, or dct vs auto.

Would rather see a US spec Mustang with 435hp and 400tq do this race.

I like the straight line stuff, so thanks for the vid! The M2 grows on me more each week!

DCT or not, the image of Calvin pissing on the pony car entered my mind after that thrashing....nothing short of a bloodbath

But if a manual M2 got unusually slow numbers and lost against another car with a DCT or auto, all our chest thumping fanboys would be crying foul.

Poor launch on the Mustang and a manual transmission. Let's be fair.

True but...

Very true , but I see an interesting thing here. The BMW diff/traction off line is still an issue even though the M2 is much better in my view than thr M3/M4.

They might have cracked the drivability balance well once the car is in motion or handling but more work needs to be done with the off the line traction tuning.

There are some FRWD cars that I have driven that show this can be achieved better even though the pack more power (and turbo or super charged engines).
