You could say that these tires make drifting "easier", but that's like saying a good pair of running shoes makes running easier. They do, but what kind of moron goes for a run in work boots?
Yup, nowdays the tire is expected to handle heat and be predictable. At the pro level everyone is in search of grip!

Good eye! I was also impressed at how they looked on the car!

Either trying to shave some tenths or doing these power slides! 👍
It's always fun to just be behind the wheel of an M car!

After your explanation about suspension setup and after watching your video. I can't help but feel the M2 looked really out of place drifting. Could you elaborate a little more on how you got your experience. I'm in CT, and as far as I know we don't really have anything up this way to learn.
Thanks for the kind words! I actually have some limited seat time in an FD car. I was the lead tech in the 2012 season and crew chief in 2013 for Chelsea DeNofa motorsports so I'm quite familiar with the whole FD game. I spent a few years drifting at the local level just for fun, and found that it really helped with overall car control and it directly helped me shave some time on the race track. Being comfortable with the car and never feeling anxious or scared will really do wonders when you're pushing the limits. I'm not sure how far Englishtown in NJ is from you but I know they have tons of drift days open to everyone! Check out "club loose" in NJ!

Now in regards to suspension, the E30 was the last one with a trailing arm. The E36 introduced the multi-link rear. Perhaps you are witnessing a difference in the LSD - either by build or by tuning - between the different generations?
Thanks!

The e36 was not a true multi-link and still has a trailing arm that connects the spindle/hub to a perpendicular pivot that sits in front of the rear wheel. It's often referred to as a traction arm in motorsports. When you're past the limit of grip and apply throttle this arm helps the car "dig" and accelerate. It's essentially trying to lift the body of the car and spin it around the wheel. The longer the arm the more effective (leverage).
