E Brake nonfunctional

Hey all,

I gave my car to Tulley BMW in Manchester, NH to get an engine noise and a differential leak looked at and have summer tires put on, and when I got the car back the emergency brake was completely non-functioning. There is no resistance when pulling the brake lever and absolutely no engagement of the brakes (car will keep moving normally with it up).

The dealership is going to take a look at it, but I'm obviously pissed. What could they have possibly messed up to make my E brake fail?

My cousin told me they likely snapped the brake cable by driving with it up or while working on the car. Does anyone have any ideas?

It didn't snap, they just forgot to hook it up, that's all.

Don't get me started on dealership mechanics...

Just a minor thing.

Who needs an emergency brake anyway??

I'd have to have a little conversation with the mechanic and the service manager.

I agree, they disconnected it as part of the differential leak repair and didn't hook it back up. I'd be letting the service manager know you'll be taking your business else where in future.

Tit for tat. Cut the brake lines on their cars.
