Thank you! But yeah honestly i kind of enjoy Eco mode. Car is still fast as hell but the turbo just doesnt spool as fast which is fine. I'm honestly ok driving with TC on. After dailying a car with zero traction control (my s2k is a 2005) its kinda nice not having to really think about if i'm putting in too much throttle lol. |

My gas mileage in the 6MT is basically the same as others have said.
One irritating thing that certainly makes the gas "run out faster" is the fact that the tank is broken up into 6ths on the gauge cluster, not 8ths like other cars. |

Usually on my drive up north I have it around 8-8.3 for the first 220km, but then I hit the curvy roads and it jumps up to 9 (by that point I can't help myself).
Next time I do this drive in the M2C I'll reset trip/fuel econ & share some photos of the dash along the way. 8-9L is not easy when there's any stop-go traffic, but it's definitely doable when you're travelling between 80-120 km/h on a long trip. Any faster and you'll jump up to 9L. I suppose some "tricks" are to put it in the highest gear when coasting (6th most of the time, as long as it stays above 900-1000rpm). I also accelerate hard at the bottom of hills before going uphill in a valley so I don't have to press the throttle at all on the uphill... stuff like that. No drafting, though it works like a charm. Used to do this in old SUVs on long drives to the southern states. First gen MDX used to do 14.5L/100km on the highway... but behind a truck it does 7-8L! Too many stone chips though. Same with me, and without trying. It's a great vehicle. |

Its BMW for me, but when we were looking for a family SUV for my wife, the X5 was long in the tooth and the GLE was end of life. the Q7 was the best one out there, and it didn't disappoint at all. The drive and utility is fantastic, and the interior is very nice and classy. I also love the 3.0 supercharged engine. I've gotten Q5's as loaners and they are very nice as well.

As mentioned in previous posts, mid teens to early teens with town and fun driving. It's not going to make a huge difference financially to acquire the M2C really from a fuel perspective. Think the rear tyres will be more of a problem. |

I have noticed the last 50 miles (after the warning) goes by more quickly than previous BMWs. I generally refill between 30-50 miles from empty which reduces the already limited range.

right now i seem to be averaging about 20mpg city driving primarily in efficient mode.
I also noticed that if i really want to save gas, i super granny shift and coast through the city in 6th gear. Not lugging the engine, but essentially giving it enough power in the lower gears and then going up to 6th i'm barely touching the gas pedal and going a steady 35-40 mph. |

Can anyone confirm that efficient mode actually saves gas?
I was driving to work today and kinda had the thought that maybe it doesnt. If you have to get up to speed and get past someone, or if you decide to shoot down a straight, i noticed that it almost feels like i have to use more gas since it takes longer to get up to speed compared to Sport+. In Sport plus i can almost just blip the throttle and be up by almost 10-20mph. But in efficient mode it seems to take a few more seconds at least. I noticed this because when i took a drive on some backroads this saturday i was in sport+ the entire time. I noticed that after the run (about 40ish miles) my gas needle had barely moved. Compared that to a normal drive on city streets to and from work, the needle drops about 1/6th of the way at 40 miles. Now that the work week is here and i'm back to driving city streets, my gas mileage seems to have suffered terribly. |

Efficient mode changes the sensitivity of the throttle allowing the driver to save fuel with less aggressive acceleration. If you press the accelerator to the floor it will burn just as much fuel.

Thats my point, i feel like i have to accelerate for longer because its not as sensitive, therefore wasting more fuel.

I'm not disagreeing with anyone, just inputting my observations. And this is all non-scientific as all I am using is the cars onboard computer. From my observations when I am holding the throttle steady and I switch from efficient mode to sport + mode I see an immediate decrease in 'current MPG'. Plus while driving on the highway, efficient mode seems to produce better 'current MPG" readings then sport + will.
But...as AlpsRider stated "Efficient mode changes the sensitivity of the throttle..." This sounds like my Yamaha MT09 that has a drive by wire throttle and I have 3 different modes just like the M2C. A = Aggressive (more throttle with less twist of the wrist), B = Efficient (have to turn your wrist more to get the same response) and C = Rain Mode - detuned engine power. So I can definitely relate to the concept. This may account for the MPG drop when switching between modes at a steady throttle. If the different modes have different throttle parameters at the same degree of input. Meaning if I am at 50% throttle input on efficient mode it may equal 50% throttle at the engine, but 50% throttle input on sport + might actually equal 60% throttle at the engine. Giving the sport + mode a quicker ramp up of throttle. |

I am averaging 23.8 MPG trough 7700 miles on my M2C but I basically never take it for errands or drive on city streets. It's a weekend car used mostly for recreational driving and I use efficiency mode until I hit where it is worthwhile to take the nannies off.
Yes, I am cheap. I was getting well north of 30 mpg on average in my M240I with a similar driving style. |

I might try and do some real world testing on this. My current tank has been a mix of Efficient and Sport + driving. I think my next tank will be primarily Sport+ driving in my normal day to day commute and then i'll do a test where its only Efficient mode. I'll report back in like....a month? |

I am reading this, about to go meet someone for lunch and just remembered I am almost out of gas. 35 miles remaining.
It is definitely part of owning this car, but a small price to pay. |
