While that's a nice sentiment, I think there are many ///M enthusiasts who simply will not consider a Mexican-made M2 to be a real ///M car.

we still live in a capitalist society and cars isn't government...so at the end of the day, people can express their opinions with their wallets.

Because your 'opinion' is somehow more valid? Oh great teacher, educate the masses with your words of infinite Truth. Dictate what we should desire.

I'm sure the ///Mexican plant will produce a quality car. Still not buying an M-car made in Mexico.
Couldn't care less what you buy. The fact you think this post was directed towards you is somewhat telling.

The point of the post was to highlight that the manufacturing origin point was very little (really nothing) to do with quality. So if my post is about quality, and you have no concern about quality, not sure why you would take such offense to my post.

I'm not sure why people are upset. When the Spartanburg plant opened the entire world scoffed at an American built BMW. Look at the success of that factory over the last 20 years. The robots don't know they're in America. They don't know they're in Mexico. It's the same production
while I don't believe the ones built in Mexico will be any subpar due to a different demographic workforce, much of the assembly is still done by hand. robots only do the heavy lifting, welding and so on (from what I saw at the Munich factory tour). the hue and cry is because if you are buying a special sports car from a German manufacturer you want it to be made in Germany. I would not buy a Mexcio tequila made in Germany. It does not feel authentic. Also if they are paying workforce less, they need to reduce the car price. that's not happening. its just more money into the company bosses pockets.

So those people who express an opinion, and do so respectfully, that is different from yours are only doing so because they haven't grown up. Compliments to the chef...that irony is tasty.

^ This 100%. Not sure if some people are just ignorant. But a vehicle is designed and meant to be produced within a certain tight spec. If it falls out of that range, it will be rejected. Regardless of where it's built, as long as you have the controls in place, it will be the same as if it's built in Germany.

Yeah that's called capitalism. Dropping the price would defeat the purpose.

LinkedIn clearly suggests G42 production in Mexico to me. These shipments traveled from Germany to South Carolina. Speculation?

Is that because the headlight only worked once a week?

Maybe the "///M enthusiasts" will not consider a car made in Mexico . . . . . I remember reading how many of the members on this forum badmouthed the OG M2 because it did not have an S coded engine. Now you read how many felt at the time it was one of the best current M cars. Interestingly (IMHO) the OG M2 still sounds better than current M2's with the S engines. Anyway, I believe all this debate on cars coming out of Mexico is premature.

Very true, those enthusiasts just need to get over it, or go to another brand (which they probably won't &#128521.

True "M" cars are already a dying breed. There are a lot more money in the GT Ms. If the next gen M2 retains most of the driveability and feel of the current M, it will be another hit. Also, part of its popularity is its price point and compromise (eg. Practicality). Without price limitations and practicality, everyone would chose a Porsche.
