Good to know. Where is the fuse located? Truck area, near the on/off switch?

Fuse is in the trunk, it's the blue one on the left hand side.

Artemis Can you send me a picture on how your MPE valve module fits with all the other accessories: tire pump, tools, etc? I am not sure how to mount the foam with all the tools inside with the valve module installed. It does not seem to fit. Thanks!

Undoubtedly you refer to the sturdy foam part pictured below.

Ha, I knew that question would pop up someday. All you gotta do is to simply forget about that foam part: fit all the tools without that foam part (leave it out of the car). It's just puzzling together the positions of the tools with some trial & error. Inside my car all provided tools + manuals + MPE valve module nicely fit inside the battery compartment under the boot panel. Nothing lying around on the boot panel.

On the other hand, my car docs itself (except for the manual) never remain inside my car when I'm out of it (whenever I step out of my car, my car docs are out too - always).

Thanks!

That's exactly what I was referring to and what I did: fit all parts without the foam. This foam part is impossible to fit in with the module installed.

The day I took delivery the dealer showed me the boot. I noticed the foam part with tools inside:
"Man, that's gonna float around inside the boot."
"Yeah, we [dealership] tried to store it in several ways under the boot panel, but it simply doesn't fit."
"Have you tried without the foam ?"
"Uh, no."
True story.

But beware of inadvertently turning the MPE module switch to the 'off' position when storing stuff in the cavity next to it. I did once when I put the leather map featuring the manual right next to it (a perfect fit, as shown below).

What's the purpose of the long Velcro running across? I was not able to figure what to do with it or its purpose?

Bad vibration during cold start

During cold starts only as the revs start to come down, as soon as it hits about 1100-1200 rpms, the exhaust vibrates badly. It can be felt and heard from inside the car. It does it twice during cold start and ruins the sound experience every time I start the car from cold.

Anyone know what might be causing this or how to trouble shoot to isolate it? If I get out the car and look at the tips I can see them go into a high speed/frequency vibration. It only last for a split second each time but sounds terrible. As soon as the revs come down to normal everything is good. Also I cannot induce this vibration while revving the car on my own.

Thoughts?

Hello,

I have a problem with the exhaust on my mpe m2.
Thinking that it was from the battery of the remote control.
I have changed, but the valves close alone ... after a random time .... the connections are good though .... and 15,000 km without problem except for 10 days ....

No problem on mine. Did you check the switch in the trunk?

Does anyone have a drone at 2750-3250 with either flaps open or closed? Outside of that range, everything is great but that 500 RPM range sounds kind of bad....

If the valves are closed the flow goes through the internal pipes and sound reduction comes from the resonance room in the middle pot. If valves are open gas flow goes mostly out of the outer pipes, no sound reduction due to no resonance room there. For sure some gas goes also through the internal pipes, but I assume back pressure is less at the outer pipes so most gas flows there...

Yes but with valves closed, the gas flow doesn't pass through the muffler, right?
At the oem exhaust there are 1 inlet pipe and 2 oulet pipes (1 w/opened valves) from the muffler. Akrapovic exhaust has 2 inlet pipes and 2 oulet pipes. Mpe for M3/4 has 4 inlet pipes and 2 outlet pipes.
In the M2 Mpe exhaust I can't see inlet pipe and outlet pipe from the muffler clearly.

I think even with closed valves the muffler is filled because the flow expands into it once reaching the passage which leads into the muffler. Less backpressure at that passage may be the reason. Not all of the flow, but a part of. I assume regarding sound this is enough to act as resonator and reduce noise...

MPE installed yesterday and I'm surprised I haven't read more about the drone levels at freeway speeds. Right at 3k rpm's, drone is terrible. Why haven't I read about this in all the reviews?

+1. I was a bit disappointed since the exhaust sounds great everywhere else. I'm getting my ASD coded out next Friday (02DEC). I'll report back if it helps in any way.

With break in, it has been getting better/shorter but it's still not the best. I'm at 1100 miles so probably about half way through when sound will change.

The reason why I am still doubting. I don't like the drone at normal freeway speed. My former 135i coupé with Performance did it around 4k rpm.
