So my local metalworks shop routinely powder coats a really nice bright red and said I could stick my brake calipers in the oven anytime. Seriously considering this and wondering what the downside would be?

I'm not concerned about resale. I have an alpine white with a full carbon fiber aero kit. The blue calipers hardly stand out at all. My tow hook and a few accents inside the car are red and the MP electronic wheel gives a racey feel to the looks. I don't really need a BBK as the stock brakes do fine for me at the track. So for basically free I can upgrade the aesthetics. I think the red just looks better on this particular car.

Seems like a pretty easy disassembley of the caliper. They will sand blast and prep before the powder coating.

Happy to help anyone else if they want new color. Or renew their blue.... they also run a routine color for blue, it matches nearly identical.

Any thoughts or suggestions from the peanut gallery?

This is awesome! What would be the cost? The blue calipers on LBB kills my ocd. I'd much prefer red.

Probably $100 if you break them down yourself and reassemble them later.

Many people do powder-coat brake calipers, without issue. However the professional brake painters say they should be painted as the oven heat changes the hardness of the aluminium. :

I know calipers get hot on track days. Here's my lovely blue ones now baked to a British racing green from hard use. Not sure which is hotter, powder oven or track work.

I thought it would bother me more than it does, but it'd be fantastic if they matched. I've considered having mine painted to match the car a few times.
