Problem with insects on side sticker
Hi guy the story is quite incredible:
Car clean, made no more than 30 km arrived at home and closed in garage. Today I see a strange yellow splash on the right side, I start to clean gently, part of this removed but now the result is this... What do you suggest ? I try with a light polish but nothing. |

Fortunately, you are in Italy. This will come off with gently rubbing a small piece of Parmigiano-Reggiano, rubbing in a circular motion, using the abrasive quality of the cheese. Don't press too hard, especially if the cheese has been aged more than 12 months.
Hope this helps :-)

Any good cleaner wax, or mild scratch remover should easily handle this if bug/tar remover doesnt.

If it's on the protective film and not the paint then just grab some acetone and and a towel and rub it till it comes off

If it's the clear, plastic paint protection film that BMW puts on the cars rear fenders, when I had Xpel installed on my car, the installer removed the film that BMW had installed, and he installed Xpel, but over a larger area!
Be glad that it's on the film! You can always try to see who installs Xpel in your area, and get a quote to just have the PPF in the rear replaced with either Xpel, or one of the other PPF brands. I had my entire front bumper, hood, A pillar, front doors and a few other areas protected, but if you don't want to spend that much $$$, you could always just replace the film that came on the car, and your car will look like brand new and protect against bugs in the future! Good luck... (It sucks that it happened so soon after you purchased the car, but it's very good news that the only thing damaged is the protective film! Hey... you have it much better then the bug.) |

At the very least, the car will dine well. And there is no excuse for dining poorly in Italy.

Whoever said acetone - no. Acetone will eat most plastics and is dangerous for some car finishes. Isopropyl alcohol is okay in some/most circumstances, but should still have some caution.
WD40 is actually a fabulous bug and tar remover (and spray paint remover if your car ever gets vandalized). And is paint safe. Old show car trick for some guys - they'd spray the front of the car with it before driving to the show, then wipe it off when arriving to help keep the car clean/bugs off.

It sounds like it's a little late for this guy, but my xpel installer suggested using alcohol to remove bugs and stuff from the PPF. It works great. Leave it on there for a minute or so, rewetting as it evaporates. That will give the solvent time to do it's thing and save you some wiping.
Also keep in mind that different bottles of iso alcohol have different alcohol concentrations. I try to use the 91%. There are many lower ones.

Be careful with the mothers R3 on the paint protection film, it can mar it up pretty badly. It's fine on normal paint though.

I have found two life saving products recently for my white M. Not sure if either avail in Italy.
1. Iron X. Takes the orange iron marks off the car (yours could be this) 2. Stoner Tarmanator Bug and Sap remover. Scary how well these work. Might be a good idea to wear a mask for #1 and gloves for #2. And most bug and tar removers say leave on 3-5 min. The Tarmanator says "do NOT leave on more than 60 seconds". Scary
