Hey, please see pic. Is this normal? The CEL is on when car isn't running but when I turn engine on, it goes away. Thanks

First car? Pretty much all cars light up like a Christmas tree when you turn them on.

Not true. i have a 2010 FJ where yes all the alerts light up initially when I out the key in but when it's in the On position, engine not started the CEL remains off and not on.

Don't remember it on my s2000 either.

Totally normal behavior. This is a check to confirm that the notification/CEL lights are working properly.

You remember correctly. CEL on key insertion, but it goes away after a few seconds.

Below is a pic of my S2K for those that require proof

Easy now ladies and gents - he's paranoid about owning his first nice BMW. We've all been here before. Maybe not as neurotic but c'mon cut 'em some slack.
