The length of arrow below illustrates the larger lip VS the original pipe with a thinner, almost non-existent lip.
Yeah but it's not clear how they could just move the position of the clip when it slides into a fixed slot on the TB itself. There is no additional room to slide the pipe onto the TB even more to accommodate moving the clip back. At least not from what I remember. Maybe they increased the diameter of the pipe slightly so I can now slide up over the lip on the TB, which would then allow the clip position to move back and still align with the TB slot.

If you track the car it would be a good idea to replace it

Which one is good FMIC for ftp charge pipe? Also which FMIC is good enough for being tuned?

Gee, what charge pipe did you get in the end?

I've heard of many similar stories, so the firs thing I got for my M2 was a charge pipe upgrade. Don't want to get stuck by the road in the middle of nowhere with a burst chargepipe

I got the Masata intercoolers together with the Masata charge pipes. I am guessing they should fit the FTP chargepipes too.

It seems performance wise the IATs are comparable even with the CSF ones, although I will be confirming this for myself this weekend

The Masata intercooler is a BMS/VRSF 5" clone with a heavy mark up. What other options do you have?

Haha performance wise at least I will be testing them out soon to see which ones perform best.

Service wise, well you get what you pay for. I would rather pay the extra $50 then be stuck with VRSF's terrible customer service again.

Terrible experience and never ever buying anything from them again no matter how cheap the items can be.

One option I don't see listed on here is the ARM intercooler. The original version was pretty terrible, but they recently revised it to have a more dense fin pack from their E series HD Intercoolers. (This is what they told me in an email when I requested more information) This means the fin pack should have went from 14fins per inch to 18f-in, and that change caused a 30F reduction in IATs

Unfortunately the OP deleted the actual logs themselves, but wrote out what he was observing in the logs, including IAT deltas. For your reading pleasure:

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1837455
(Page 1 - OP's identifies high IAT issue on E30+ Map)
(Page 2 - Recommendations to fix OPs issue(s) and review of new ARM intercooler)

The remainder of the thread is a comparison between the VRSF Race and the ARM intercooler, and as you would guess, the VRSF Race with its denser fin pack, is measurably better.

I would state that the ARM/ER is a superior intercooler to the standard stepped intercoolers (VRSF/BMS 5" Wagner Evo 1&2, CSF) because of it's taller frontal area, but it will require bumper removal on the M2.

The OEM chargepipe failed on my M2 at 60 thousand miles. It cracked where the part connected to the throttle body. I purchased an ER chargepipe and this part has been a disaster too. Part has popped off twice in both locations. First in the groove where the two pieces meet and then had it reinstalled and it popped off where it connects to the throttle body. Both issues occurred within 15 minutes of the installation. Now I cannot drive the car and the shop I took it to twice wont entertain another install attempt. I am going back to factory oem.

Im sorry to hear that but why would go back to stock when you know it's a matter of time before it fails again?

Because it will - based on his personal experience - be after 60k miles. Rather than 15 minutes?

Here is where you offer the solution.

It's either the shop or he got a defective charge pipe. It's an easy solution either way.

Hey everyone. What’s better?

Masata ⬇️
https://masata.co.uk/products/masata...2fc97e12&_ss=r

VRSF ⬇️
https://www.vr-speed.com/vrsf-charge...5.html/ref/31/

Both seem good but I’m leaning towards Masata because it’s specifically for M2 and has larger diameter, whereas VRSF generic for N55. Any input is appreciated.

Larger diameter than what? What are the actual measurements - VRSF claims a TB matched 3” (76mm?) piping.

It’s larger diameter specifically for the M2 rather than universal fitment for all N55. Not sure if that matters
