Yours truly bid that up quite a bit. I’m in the market for a 2018/2019. There was a strange issue getting the lien released and title cleared on that example—may have contributed to the sale price.

As I mentioned earlier, I recently sold my 2018 M2. I was going to list it on BaT but they wanted to set the reserve at 41K, and I wanted more. Obviously they were right on point.

My car had a bunch of extra do-dads, which I realize doesn't really help the market value much (except to the "right" buyer) but I did pay for all of that stuff, so I was hoping for more. The CF winglets, MPE, K-40, wrap...

Update: My M2 is sold after only 5 days of listing. Sold to a member on this forum. A true car enthusiast and a gentlemen. I also listed it on Craigslist and got 3 offers on the second day. $41K, $42.5K, and $43K from a teenager with his mom on the phone. I found out a few things from this sale. There are many people looking for cars on Craigslist, there are a lot of kids with rich parents in California, and there are many people interested in buying a Laguna Beach Blue M2 with manual transmission and no modifications.

I am very happy my M2 went to a very nice member on this forum. My daughter came home and asked me what happened to the M2. I told her I sold it and will pay for her college tuition so she can just focus on her studies. She stood silence for a long time. Her eyes started turning red and said "Dad, I will buy you a new M2 after I graduate" and walked to her room. I guess I will return to this M2 forum in 2 years.

Thanks again for all your inputs and special thanks to the creators of this forum.

We look forward to having you back with a new M2C or the new gen M2 soon! But this also does not mean you still can't remain a meme ER sharing your thoughts and perspective. Once in the M2 family, always in the M2 family 😃

Congrats

SeniorDriver , congrats on the sale - as noted, used cars are HOT right now.

My 1M will head the way your M2 did in a short while. I've got enough cash for another year or three and then it goes to pay those crazy tuition bills. Damn kids... I don't like them, but I sure do love them.

I would love to see the source for this. I didn't realize that depreciation suddenly converted to appreciation for used cars. And I guess the laws of economics no longer apply also.

I read automotive news the industry weekly journal and have not seen this phenomenon.

I guess I will keep my 2017 M2 with 45,000 miles and about 30 track days because it will be worth more ??????

Yes, this has been the case because there weren't many new cars being produced during the covid period. Initially, new car prices plummeted because people were afraid to buy. I had to upgrade my mom's explorer and took advantage of that way back at the end of March. Made money on the lease trade in and the new lease was a $6k more car, the brand new model, 4WD vs. FWD prior model, 10k more miles and still a $2k cheaper lease.

Then used car prices plummeted before coming back. The incentives are fading on the new cars as well - think how long it's been since you've seen one of the Ford/GM 0% for 84 month commercials...I don't think I have since late April. My M2C won't be here until end of the year (ED in September), so hoping the trend holds for my 2018 M4 sale!

SeniorDriver Congrats on the sale! I'd have asked the kid for $48k!

I have a 2020 x5 - 40i xdrive

Bread and butter car. Not a niche car like the x6
Stickered @76. Black / black msport - not a wild polarizing color combo. Pretty standard

I tried my luck at a new deal but was offered 52 on trade. Same offer at carmax.

Miles 2,300 not a typo

So my experience was that the financing was great in the new cars , the discount was average/ normal on the new car (8% on m2 comp) but trade killed the deal.

Caravana declined to make an offer . The request would go to manual review and then it would expire .

Yea first year depreciation is going to suck but not 32% at 2300 miles. I was expecting around 20% loss.
We are just going to keep the x5 as it was part of the plan before RONA.

Just a random data pt.
