Feel Good Upgrades - sharing / pics

Just wanted to share my first round of updates on my 2017 M2. Only got opticoat/tint 3 years ago (car still looks brand new! And glossy wet all day)

1. Ohlins RT
2. 10mm all around spacers and a drop about an inch. Ground clearance is about 3 inches from the lip. Not sure exactly what spacers, brother who tracks monthly had it on his track car (ie high quality no issues with hard driving)
3. Fall line front and rear end links https://ind-distribution.com/product...r-end-link-kit
4. Autosolutions short throw shifter (http://www.autosolutions.net)
5. Ultimate Clutch Pedal (http://www.ultimateclutchpedal.com)
6. Corner balanced w/ 50:50 distribution
7. LW front lip

Thank you Little Speed Shop! If anyone is in the upstate/western NY area I highly recommend them. https://www.thelittlespeedshop.com they have a shop @ the Glen also

Also thanks to my brothers shop in West Palm Beach — protek for helping me decide things for this first round of upgrades - anyone in the area need anything from simple maintenance to building a race car- they can help you out. https://protekautofl.com they have built about 4 race cars in the past 15 years, all with 0 issues, and they know their stuff inside and out.

Outcome — UNBELIEVABLE all feels upgrade. Haven't tracked her w/this setup yet. But w/ daily and a couple of country spirited roads— Suspension feels planted, zero body roll. I still have to play around with the clicks, currently it's about middle setting for stiffness. I was worried as a few members here suggested the steering feel got shot after, I didn't feel a change either positive or negative. Stiffness is prominent on bad roads, but I don't mind. The clutch is MUCH MUCH improved. Settings are for the stiffest option. Not as stiff as I thought it would be, still an easy daily driver. The clutch drop is considerable and welcomed. Clutch Pedal is flushed with the others. Short throw - Ron is amazing from autosolutions. I got about a 25 % reduction. Not loud at all, no slop, satisfaction with each click and hear shift. OEM boot.

Took me a while for my round 1 upgrades, but I am very very happy. Was going to jump into power, but I think I'll wait it out a bit. Getting bimmercode this week so I can play around with it a bit.

Open for questions, measurements, contacts if anyone needs.

Here's my thoughts for power mods probably next season.

1. bm3 tune
2. fab speed exhaust
3. VRSF down pipe or fabspeed
4. use stock box with drop in filter
5. Charge pipe Active Autowerke or VRSF
6. VRSF Intercooler 5 inch or 6 inch
7. Spark plugs 1 step colder

Any thoughts, suggestions on the above would be welcomed.

Thanks! Safe Driving!

Question, why didn't you use a license plate bracket for the front bumper, you just drill two Sheetrock screws, to hold it in? 🤨

The plant mount lines up dead center of the bumper, is held on more study and it doesn't flap around, in the wind.

Just a some friendly FYI..

Not drilled in at all. Attached from the bottom grille, the screw is through the plate then attached to a rubber fastener which rests on the actual front bumper. So when I track, POP off in a second.

You guys are crazy. Why would I go through all this energy and time just to drill holes in my baby 🤣😂

I've done a lot of similar mods and on a similar boat as well.

1. Noticed a number of 6MT related changes. How you considered doing the CDV delete?
2. Considered camber plates? I'm on -2.8 degrees front camber and corner balanced on Ohlins as well and the car handles so much better. There was a lot more understeer before when you really start to push the car to the limit.

Have not considered the CDV del. how do you like it??? I was going to take it to the track then do some camber. How long did it take you to get the camber right? I feel like that is trial an error, thoughts?

My mechanic is pretty well versed in M cars, and even has his own M235iR. I let him do both the corner balance and alignment, and we settled on -2.8 being an acceptable compromise for street and occasional track use. He's done upwards (downwards?) of -4 or even -5 degrees of camber in his race car! Since I only track it a few times a year and it's also my daily, and I wanted a set once and forget kind of deal, we settled on -2.8. He did advise me to often check and adjust the tire pressures as the tires warm up on the track, though.

Regarding the CDV delete, I like it. I was admittedly having so trouble with the 1-2 shift without either letting the RPMs drop a lot, or slip the clutch, and I live in the city so it started becoming annoying. It's certainly a lot easier to shift now.

Nicely done. I appreciate that you started from the suspension before going for more power. I got Vorshlag camber plates and I'm very happy with them, haven't noticed any more noise or vibration after installing those. Got them set for 1.85 street and bumped them up to 2.85 for track. Both setups feel just right to me but I haven't pushed it much at the track yet.

I hear minor clunking on mine but it doesn't bother me at all. Car is absolutely transformed!
